Pete Martell RIP

Ian Bowyer
Just been talking to a mate of mine that knew Pete. Although he knew his brother Terry better and worked a summer season with him down in Devon.
He said he'd bumped into Pete a few times in the News house. He was telling me a tale about a gang of them going to a game at Oxford and Pete being mistaken for Terry Curran. Maxwell tried to tap him up by handing him his card and saying give me a ring.

Yeah he worked for a bloke called Baz, sadly no longer with us either, who was a derby fan. They used to have some right banter. It was in the unit just across from Peggers (fox and grapes) and in summer the bar staff used to take him pints over 😂

Although I wasn't present on that occasion, I can firmly corroborate that Maxwell mistook Pete for Terry Curran after the match at Oxford. I don't know if Tel is old enough to remember, but it was when his dad was briefly 'experimenting' with perms, as of course did a lot of blokes around that time.

He was at that game with Tom, a friend of a friend. I think it's Tom,s claim to fame story.
