Paul Gascoigne

I know this is only tangentially related to Forest, but Paul Gascoigne is coming to The Royal Concert Hall Saturday 9th January 2016, 7-30pm.

The blurb says "Get up close and personal with a footballing legend and experience an intimate on stage interview with "Gazza"".

If I could afford the £40 I'd certainly like to get "up close and personal" with the c*nt, but not in the manner the RCH have in mind.

I wonder if Gary Charles and Gary Parker will be going?

We play Bolton at home on the same day.

£40 to watch a bloke stumble around slurring on the stage? You can watch eleven do it for £30 at the City Ground!

I once got a black eye because of Paul Gascoigne.

Drinking in the Devonshire Arms pub in Dore, Sheffield one weekend evening a couple of the local bar flies decided to have a go at Gazza who was being the life and soul of the drinking games (surprise, surprise) while out with his good mate Chris Waddle who lives in the village.

Tempers were getting frayed so being the gentle giant that I am, I stepped into the breach to help calm the situation down. Waddle was getting decidedly pissed off while Gazza was still trying to act the fool. As I made my way into the melee one of the bar flies pushed Waddle hard in the chest sending him staggering back. Gazza picks up a heavy glass ashtray, swings wildly with it, totally missing his intended target with it and hit me square in the face

After getting rid of the bellends spent the rest of the night getting pissed with Gascoigne and Waddle. Never occured to me to think about the FA Cup. Lifes too short to worry about such things.

I honestly thought you were going to suggest we replace Dougie Freedman with Paul Gascoigne then.

Quality. If there'd been a ref there, he'd have only got a yellow though.

 :tophat:

Fantastic player. The most amazing football talent England have produced in my lifetime.
Demons inside him but most geniuses do.

Ive never actually understood the hate for him from certain Forest fans

He tried to his best to get sent off which would of been great for us. It was the refs fault (as usual) not gazzas

awesome player, still the best Englishmen ive seen

I know we love to wallow in the past but still holding a grudge against Gazza for Roger Milfords lack of appropriate action is a little bit pathetic. And remember Psycho wouldn't have scored if Gazza hadn't of acted in the way he did.

If he's leading a massive pub crawl around town and the £40 goes into the drinks kitty then I'm interested.

I quite agree. I hate Roger Milford with a passion, but appreciate Gazza's footballing skill. A bit of a numpty perhaps, but a fine footballer.

No real opinion on him as a bloke, although Im surprised hes enough brain cells to put a sentence together these days.

Remember standing in the Trent End around 1987 when Newcastle came with Beardsley, Mirandinha & the like. Young Gazza played centre Mid & outshone the f***ing lot of em.. He was mustard at that age.

Not quite as simple as apportioning blame. His two HORRIFIC challenges could have seriously injured our players. Parker got one above the waist and Charles could have had his leg broken. It wasn't Milford who made the challenges; it was a half-witted (though talented) player who should have had self control and didn't. So I'm a little bit pathetic. Sorry. I suppose his cruciate injury was karma. Gazza is in the same category as Aldridge for me; a scummy twat. Just saying.

Where's me hammer?
He should have gone Man United instead of Spurs... Fergie would have sorted him out and he would have been the talent he should have been.

He reminds me of a midfield version of Stan Collymore. A fantastic player whose temperament meant their achievements fell well short of their potential.

My gazza story is of him in brannigans toilets in Blackpool

Sniff sniff

Spot on from Psycho there. Good words from a man who knows him better than us. Having read Gazza's autobiography and read many stories about him over the years, it's clear he's a vulnerable character who's generous nature was exploited and taken advantage of. A few depressing events in his early life (where he blamed himself) saw him become a self destructive figure who lived on the edge. He's lashed out in frustration many times, probably more frustrated at himself than anyone else. That FA Cup final in 1991, I've never seen a player more wound up. He was like a man possessed and unfortunately it backfired for him. Milford should have told him to calm down but he allowed him to carry on.

Anyway, this is a great episode with Pearce and Gazza (and Seaman) for those of you who haven't watched it.
