Passing of forum member Calvin Plummer

As many have said, Calvin's sterling work on the match threads was hugely appreciated, and made for some great Sunday morning entertainment. I really enjoyed how he often picked comments to form a bit of a matchday storyline, which then also often contained some contrasting comments that made a mockery of the opposition in the process.

Big NFFC love to all his family. RIP Calvin

I'm a little late reading this sad news - I've been a sporadic reader and even more sporadic contributor since various projects around the house and an increased work load in my job have been taking up more of my time than I would like.

Calvin was, for me, a big contributor to this forum and a name who, when I saw a post from, they were usually memorable. He was opinionate, forthright and most of all passionate about the Reds.

I am so sorry for your loss, CatWhisperer and also for the loss that all his friends and family will be feeling at this time.

Sorry to read of your loss, Catwhisperer.

Cherish the happy memories, the smiles and the laughter.

I'll tell you, I don't have much of a social life, over 90% of it is pretty much on here. Sorry to sound soft but, there are people on here I have come to genuinely care about, and always considered how it would hit me if one of them passed away.

With that said, Calvin's opposition fan comments threads were a real highlight of the week for me, and I used to regularly comment on them. This pretty much feels like a friend has passed.

Stay strong, but don't bottle things up, there are many people who care about you, and will support you.

RIP Calvin.

It’s strange but I feel that too mate. Won’t ever meet most people on here but we are all Reds and most have been a part of my Saturdays and mid-week for many years

Same. All the names I see whenever Forest play or otherwise are always memorable. It does make you feel a bit soft but I guess that's a certain realisation of your own mortality and seeing close family members or friends the same age as yourself pass away over the years.

The funny comments, craziness, jesting, arguments or whatever are all what makes this place so good. Even if we don't always get along, we're all still part of the community. And you can really feel that.

I’ve often wondered when I’m at the City ground, I could be sat next to or behind someone off here and never knew.

Maybe having our usernames on our shirts should be mandatory
Weren't we sat close to each other at Blackburn?

I've met a few off here with the LTLF away game travel and LTLF 11 a side team both of ten+ years ago now and everyone was sound. I can just about see Flaggers from my seat too.

Statistically it's probable that at least two on here sit next to or very close to one another without knowing it.

Such horrible and tragic news. My deepest condolences for your loss.

I very rarely post on this forum, but have been lurking for years. Living abroad, it's a lifeline to the Forest community. Trawling through the debates, the rumours, the blow-by-blow match threads and post-mortems, the fears, the anger, the jubilation, the pride, the love, has all become a part of my life. I have always enjoyed and respected Calvin's contributions and highly appreciated the "opposition comments" tradition he initiated. RIP fellow red.

Hi everyone,

I’m sorry to interrupt the light-hearted posts here on LTLF. I wanted to share the sad news that the forum member posting as Calvin Plummer died earlier this month. He was my loving partner of 12 years. His death was unexpected and a shock for all his family and friends. Although he hadn’t posted for a while, he used to regularly compile salty comments about Forest from other fan forums. I know he spent a lot of time collecting these comments and I hope everyone enjoyed reading them.

A Forest fan since childhood, he had been a member of this forum since 2009, coincidentally the same year I met him. He couldn’t go to matches very often but took pleasure in contributing to discussions on here. We had talked about one day going to a match together so I’m sad we never got round to taking up that opportunity. I'm not a football fan but would always ask him who Forest was playing and what the score was. I will miss taking an interest in his passions, commiserating with him and celebrating in Forest’s fortunes. I will forever treasure his classic shirt. Only recently he had been looking at treating himself to one of the retro shirts so that he could wear it regularly.

I know he spoke his mind and sometimes got himself blocked from sites (like this one) but he meant no malice, held no grudges and simply liked a good debate. I’m unsure how much of his life he shared with you, but I knew him as a hugely caring, intelligent, insightful, and funny person. I know this forum was important to him and that’s why I wanted to leave a short message for you.

Please tell your nearest and dearest that you love them, and hold them close, because it can all be taken away in an instant xx
Always sad to hear of the passing of a fellow red. Enjoyed and appreciated many of his posts. My condolences and RIP CP.

So sorry to hear this sad news.
I echo all the previous comments , especially about the Forest Family. There is definitely an inner circle to that family and Calvin was clearly a part of it!

My friends and I organised a big screen message a couple of years ago. Here is the link we used
It was a fairly simple process, but feel free to PM me if you need help.
