For me that deal is an absolute no brainer. With 4 other player who can play that role just as well it makes absolute sense to turn a profit on him.

Letting Mangala go will have zero impact on us being relegated or staying up, not getting a goalkeeper absolutely will.

Sensible move at this point.

It's all about who comes in on the back of his departure.

But there's no doubt the club has played itself into a pretty desperate position, which leaves it vulnerable to a bit of butt-bang.

Marinakis needs to be booting whoever wanted to sign players like Vlach instead of his TV.

We're well covered at RB though, Serge is now surplus (sort of - he probably does a better job than Montiel in fairness to him, though both have the odd brainfart).

Regardless of other businesses, this seems appropriate - just hope we get a fee too...

You are right - it is all about who comes in - this is a cracking deal for the club.
Instead of recognising that - is there really a need to continually repeat all of the negative stuff?

It is Deffo 10%? so £2mil big ones heading to Germany in the summer?

£10mil loan fee, for 5 months? Cracking business all around here.
Ten Percent is what was reported at the time, 18 months ago.

Will we get relegated without Mangala? Maybe.

Will we get relegated without a new keeper? Almost certainly.

So if the finances dictate that we need to sell Mangala to get Johnstone, it’s a no brainer.

I haven't read through the thread so don't know how this will gauge but I think it is really good business.

Personally I have always thought Mangala is a neat and tidy player but has always been massively overrated by some. He doesn't really offer a goal threat, he doesn't really get any assists, he isn't athletic and gets around the pitch like an oil tanker. Think he will do well though in a slower league with more runners around him.

If it’s £30m with £3m add-ons it’s pretty much exactly what we paid for Sangare. Granted, our perspective on both players has changed since, but if we’d been offered a straight swap of Mangala for Sangare in August we’d have thought it was a joke.

The OL chairman obviously needs some oil moving on the cheap.

Probably move Mangala on loan to Palace in the summer... ;)

Now if it is £20m when it becomes a permanent deal and it is guaranteed to happen, then that is much better than what was previously reported.
Thats what it seems to be. Seems like Lyon want to do it this way as they can get this deal and Benrahma done together without the French FA Financial police pulling them up.

Apparently Lyon could also be selling Rayan Cherki to Fulham for a big chunk of cash (enough to comfortably afford Mangala and Benharama) which will help.

Which goalkeeper did you have in mind Alf?

I get the impression Forest were very quick to update Romano after the initial reports this morning. ;)
Well, Syrianos does know Romano IIRC.

No, it isn‘t, as there is a sell-on clause due to VfB Stuttgart as part of the original deal to buy him.
Glad to see you have found your way back into the Mangala thread Strum. I wondered if you were able to see it through your tears and puffy eyes in light of the developments of the last 72 hours.
