It's been a while since I've took the reigns on the matchday threads, and the last two occasions I did have yielded a +5 game unbeaten run under Hughton (believe it or not) and a run to the quarter finals of the FA Cup whilst still a Championship team (believe it or not), so we could do worse, maybe.

Venue: The City Ground, West Bridgford, Nottingham
Kick off: 14:00 05/11/23

Last 5 games:-
Forest: LDDDL
Villa: WWDWW

So there's all the vital information you need heading into this game...now bring yourselves right up to the screen and peel your eyes and cup your ears, as I attempt to make you feel positive about our chances in this game...

Forest positives: Errrmm...Taiwo might start...errr....our fans are good at singing.
Villa negatives: Errrrrmm, they're from Birmingham, so the pollution in their lungs means they might be too out of breath to handle 15+ minutes of stoppage time, so we could be in business if we're still in the game at the end. Errr...they lost 0-3 away at sh*tty Liverpool (wait a minute ... ... ah bo*locks :( ).

We’ve not really had anything from Forza Garibaldi this season in terms of displays, and I get the sense the atmosphere and crowd are desperate for something like that. Hopefully the do something for the Villa game

A massive tifo of Henri Lansbury on the links in a Forest-Villa half and half scarf to spice things up

We seem to me to be at a tipping point.
We have not recorded a win since the 1-0 at Chelsea, but have proven ourselves to be difficult to beat (although Liverpool didn't have to work too hard today).
If we don't get a win soon, then the improvements made in player quality will soon take a down turn, and we may see individual performances slip.
A win against a current form team like Villa looks unlikely at the moment.
But a defeat at home against them is not going to do Cooper's reputation any favours.
I don't see anythng but a defeat next weekend.

Tough game Villa winning left, right and centre, good manager, great starting Xl plenty of ammunition on the bench, they’ll bring a few to City Ground also, we’ve just been dicked 0-3, moral is low, part of the fan base wants me in ta replace Cooper as soon as.

With all this in mind I’ve crunched the numbers and it comes out as a home win, three points for the famous team.

Oh Bonfy, I really can’t say whether or not fish cakes will be consumed by me next Sunday. I am struggling with the effects of a boozy and ultra-rich food this weekend as we have been entertaining our friends from Wiltshire. I promise to keep you fully informed as the week progresses. At the moment the thought of more food is not pleasant.

I think it's time to shake things up a little with the team selection:

Vlachodimos
Aurier Felipe Murillo Aina
Mangala Yates Dominguez
MGW Elanga
Awoniyi
Win 3-2 and "our season starts here".

Struggling for the inspiration to see us winning this one.

Maybe if Yates, Felipe and Taiwo all start? Maybe if MGW has some end product to all his fkin about with the ball? Maybe if half their team is struck down by food poisoning? Maybe if we can get a two goal lead and not piss it away in the dying seconds?

On both sides’ current form I think a draw would be a decent result.

Steer well clear of training,Captain-you’ll probably join the legions requiring a sick note.
When I used to play training was mainly undertaken in the tap room at the Old Volunteer, Carlton, or the Flying Horse. When I did my degree at Exeter it came as a bit of a shock when training actually involved shuttle runs in the gym, skills and tactics work on the pitch, and then stamina work running up and down the Port Royal Hill, ignoring the welcoming open doors of the Port Royal pub.

No prediction on this one but its hard to see us getting anything from the game. Villa are a very very good side it has to be said.
My worry is the players also believe that, and are beaten before they go onto the pitch.
It is up to Cooper and his team to restore confidence.
For him, it is his biggest challenge now.

Probably-but we looked dead and buried at this point last season (5 points from 10 games).
I trust Steve to make the necessary changes to restore confidence and calm nerves amongst
the supporters.
It won’t be easy-this league is brutal.
