Nuno must be a devotee of the Forum.
There were lots of calls for him to pick his strongest side, get them fired up from the start and to win the fulham game, thereby getting us 4-points from the 2 home games that "cover" the 4-points deduction.
And he did just what the fans had ordered!

He can't be. If he was he'd have moved MGW into a deep role.

This is bang on.

He's been OK, he's got positives, but after one great 45 min (followed by a semi-resilient 2nd half) min, asking everyone to suddenly forget the grind which it's been getting there is a bit unrealistic.

Like you say, a lot of stuff he's actioned has been stuff a fair amount of posters have been calling for.

I'm glad for the fact he's done that, and I also recognize he's got better qualities such as how he's bought out the best in some players like Wood, but I'm not suddenly in awe of him because he's finally got the basic team setup down.

He came here when we were 17th, he got the squad trimmed, a key player in Sels, and some additional players to boot. We're still in 17th. It's OK, but it's not particularly rapid progress either. When he starts taking us up the table to places which we haven't been yet, then I'll start to get more excited.

Let's stay up this year and hope that Nuno gets the chance to shape the squad well in the Summer. My hope is that his desire for a tight squad kyboshes and crap ego or panic additions from those above him.
I think you are being very unfair here Alf,
1. Without the points deduction we would be 15th and 7 clear of the drop zone.
2. We have had some amazing games under Nuno; Newcastle away, Man U home, West Ham home and, of course Fulham this week.
3. We have been robbed by refs/VAR on numerous occasions; Bournmouth, Newcastle, Liverpool all at home, Brentford away
4. We have been unfortunate not to get more from; Arsenal at home (2 errors at a time when they were averaging 4 goals a game), Bournemouth and Luton away
There has only really been Villa away where we have looked outclassed. This was after arriving just after Spurs, Fulham and Everton where we frankly looked ragged to say the least. We did incredibly well under Steve Cooper, ffs we were bottom of the Championship when he arrived, but to say we have not improved under Nuno is basically not true.

Mostly ifs and buts there tho chap. I'm judging on what's occurred.

And even without the points deduction, 15th isn't anywhere where we haven't been already this season without him. Plus, like I said, Nuno has been given a key player in a key area to get us "there" too.

I'm not down on him, I'm just wanting to see more before I think he's anything special. Maybe the next few games will do that now he seems to have found a formula though, and maybe given a full pre-season he'll fare better.

I am not going to - well, I cannot, because of the GDPR - tell you if Nuno might have an account on here, or what his username is.

If of course he does. Which he might. Or might not.

@NunoES the plebs won’t see this post, so your secret‘s still safe gaffer. Same time next week for Superbock and Tapas?? We can carry on slagging off Jose Mourinho.

Do you think that someone is a Nuno acolyte if they think that Chris Wood and Neco Williams have performed significantly better since the managerial change and that stating that someone described this as a myth was talking absolute bollocks? Asking for a friend.
To be honest I think that the Wood/Williams debate is just something for both sides to argue about because they want to find something to argue about.

Not to keep comparing the 2 but..

This season

Cooper
avg points per game: 0.82
Points over a full season: 31.16
Position based on 22/23 table: 19th

Nuno

avg points per game: 1.07
Points over a full season: 40.66
Position based on 22/23 table: 14th

Coopers spell in charge included home games v Luton, Burnley, Sheff U, Brentford and Everton so potentially the easier games of the season on paper.

This is why I really can’t comprehend how passionate argument is being had on the difference between cooper and nuno. There is a debate there but anyone falling out or calling people names (I haven’t read all this thread so I’m not accusing anyone) is being disproportionate.

Given Turner + Vlach in goal like Cooper had for his half of the season, and I doubt Nuno's PPG would be much different to Cooper's myself tbh.

Whatever. Coops is gone Nuno is here. Live with it.

This thread should be about Nuno, not the infighting started by those who pine for Coops.

FWIW the jury is still out on Nuno IMHO. We've seen some good and some bad. If he keeps us up let's see if he sticks around to build on it. Personally, I don't fancy another managerial change though.
