Stats wise he's better than Fofana (who had disappointing numbers I thought) but not as good as Sangare. Stats only give one picture though - for example look at Jefferson Lerma's - not great at all but he's a very good DM.

Freuler had some of the best passing stats in Serie A, it's not all about signing a player with good passing stats and expecting them to transform our passing. That goes for anybody not just this guy.

He doesn’t appear to be the disruptive presence of guys like Sangare, Fofana, Adams etc. feels more like competition for Mangala (a direct replacement for Freuler), rather than the physical DM we need

He looks like a class player, but more of a complete box to box type rather than a physical number 6. So hopefully we’re still after Fofana/Florentino as well. If we could bring 2 central midfielders in and manage to offload Freuler, Shelvey & O’Brien then that would be lovely.

Yeah would be a nice way to trim that CM room. We’ve established those 3 aren’t a fit for the team/system etc, so get rid and consolidate into a (hopefully) better option

Kouyate could be added to that list as well if we bring in Fofana as he wouldn’t be needed. Can be a useful player but injury prone and lacking that extra bit of quality that we need.

Yeah possibly. I would say 5 is probably the minimum you’d want at CM/DM in your 23. Fofana, Dominguez, Yates, Mangala, Kouyate works for me and then MGW, Danilo (and Aguilera, who wouldn’t count) as your AMs
