But if say Johnson was made captain, it wouldn't suddenly stop Worrall/Cook/Colback etc from talking to other players and 'leading' anyway. That's what I mean when I say it doesn't necessarily matter which player has the actual arm band on. Grabban was officially captain when playing last season but we all knew Worrall was 'the real skipper'...
Surely, you have that arse about tit?

Does it really make any difference? I've always thought the fascination with who is captain is a very British thing, probably based on how our football used to be years ago with Adams, Pearce, Robson etc all chest-thumping, taking no prisoners, generally shouting at other people and looking mean. But in the modern game does the captaincy actually matter? They certainly aren't as bothered elsewhere in Europe, I think in Italy they just give it to the most senior player.

I'd like to think that all of the players on the pitch have it in them to dish out a bollocking if required or encourage where necessary. Some are better than others at it I'm sure but in reality the captain just tosses the coin and does the occasional extra interview don't they?
I think the same. When they are on the field we need a leader of the back four, a midfield general and someone up front to make enough noise so the rest know which channels the forwards are using. Not so much noise, however, so the opposition can hear.

Leaders all over the pitch. The club captain essentially organises the Christmas party and is the conduit to the coach.

Since I'm not in the dressing room with the players, I don't really have an opinion on who should be captain. But every team I ever played in, it was always obvious who the leader of the group was, and he was captain.

And no, it was never me, needless to say.

Harvey there’s obviously been a massive ground swell of support for Cafu as captain, vice captain, cheerleader, etc, surely he’s got the minerals to replace other in the pole ? 😬
