Neco Shay Williams

Omar Devone Little

Mr Realistic
Also Richards and wood.
Not sure about Colback and Scarpa as they might be shorter term - but not far off of an entire starting 11

Shit I forgot about Wood, do we still have to sign him...?

Not sure whether SC said he was close to being back to full training but it might’ve been Kouyate and Niakhate?!
Was Kouyate and Aurier and both played yesterday so he did his usual embellishment of how close they were.

However when McKenna and Boly got injured it was widely reported McKenna was out for 6 weeks and Boly was out for the season.

Poor Neco. I think that's the 3rd time in the last 6 months he's had to leave the pitch because of a head injury?

Such a shame as he's been impressive of late and shown everyone a glimpse of who the real Neco is.

I read he's having surgery today so I hope that goes well and I wish him a speedy recovery. Hope he's back for pre-season training fit and healthy.

He does remind of Matty cash a bit - probably not as defensively/positionally sound but similar in terms of energy. (I'd have him pegged as an ADHD Matty Cash, or a Matty Cash on amphetamines!)
So basically Matty Cash on Ritalin?

Honestly think we've been cursed.

Every time a player looks like they're coming into form, injury kicks in.

Was listening to Radio Nottinghan on the way in to the match last night, Brian Laws saying some serious questions need to asked around training (I know this one is different, being a fractured jaw, freak accident). There's so many soft tissue injuries it's unreal. How many hamstrings have popped this year?

We know some questions were asked some weeks ago.

When asked about it, Cooper said there was no commonality in the injury types. Although he was not explicit, for me, the answer he gave implied they had looked at the various injuries to see if there was something identifiable. They'd be daft not to.

Is Boly out for the rest of the season?
I may well be wrong on this but I seem to recall hearing that Boly was going to be out for 8-12 weeks. Given that his injury, whilst playing against Fulham, was on the 11 Feb, then there might be an outside chance he could be available for the last 2 games, though I wouldn't bet on it. There hasn't been any news on him for weeks.
I would love to see him return fit not least for his organisational skills with our other defenders

Definitely something is amiss, it wasn't that different in the second half of last season when everyone was breaking.
But part of me thinks that having to constantly chase the opposition for most of the game takes it toll on players.

You're constantly having to twist, turn and push off sometimes when your body isn't quite at the right position to do it. If you were to do a 100m sprint, before you go, your entire body is focused on the push off but if you are going left but have to quickly go right for example, muscles are being pulled and twisted constantly.

Throw in the fact that players since COVID-19 hit have had really compact schedules and a mid-season World Cup, it's no wonder really.

That said, the club need to improve it's sports science and medical departments this summer regardless of what division they're in.

Our players recruited from abroad having a proper English pre-season will no doubt help for the next one, something that Kouyaté will also benefit from having been a free-agent in August.

Nothing wrong with being critical as long as it's justified. Neco has been poor and really struggled this season. The last few games he's really turned it around though and has been excellent, nobody is going to argue a lot of that is down to him switching into the wing back role.

Last night he was right up there for man of the match until he went off. I hope it's not as bad as initially feared because he's really going to be a loss for us in that role for the run in.

He didnt switch to the wing back role though, he IS a wing back, thats why we signed him.

He switched the the full back role in the first place for cover, which is exactly why I think a lot of the comments aimed towards him after every game were unfair. Its as if people have only just realised his best position by a country mile is WB, did nobody watch Fulham last season?

I think he was out for the season because they tried to de-register him for Cook after his injury

You never know though

That's why I've not been as critical of him myself as others have been.

He's a young lad who has spent most of the season playing out of position and having to make the step up to the Premier League. I think a lot of comments said about him this season have been a bit harsh, all things considered.

Exactly mate, some of it has been disgusting to be honest.

Obviously the 2 positions are closely aligned but ultimately different roles. Hes far better bombing forward with the ball at his feet. I think you could play Neco in Jonnos role to be honest, Trent is the same. Im not sure if those being so critical dont understand the difference between the roles or that he's not a full back, found the whole thing a bit odd.

Either way im delighted he's proven a few wrong but gutted with this injury because remarkably, he gonna be a very big loss if we continue as we are formation wise.
