My favourite ever commentary

I'm not sure how widespread this ever got but this is my favourite commentary ever. I was there too!

Middlesbrough's UEFA Cup run in 2006 was incredible. Not so much for them making the final, but for the manner in which they did it.

In the QF against Basel, they lost 2-0 in Switzerland and conceded early at The Riverside, only to score the 4 goals to go through.

Not so much on it's own, but when they went and did it again late on in the semi final, it was incredible.

The commentator at 1:55 is fantastic!

Steve Hodge's late equaliser at Southampton in the FA Cup in 1991 on Radio Nottingham. Martin Fisher's voice went nuts. A part of it only dogs could hear.

Thats one of mine, along with 'Lonergan never even smelt it' from Guediouras goal against Leeds last season.

Exactly.

The finest piece of Radio Nottingham commentary. EVER.

Colin Fray is almost ejaculating as he screams that out.

I was there, it's my favourite Psycho goal ever. Utd fans had been slagging him from before kick off, calling him a German etc. Then BANG! Get in!

A few of the Forest squad where in the stand with us. They went nuts. Who says footballers don't care?:psycho:

Me too! They were singing "who missed in Italy, Stuart Pearce, Stuart Pearce" What a way to shut them up!

I wish I could find it, but Cohen's goal against the Baggies in the 3-1 win away is absolutely SUPERB.

"Forest are going CRAZY in the West Midlands on a snowy, snowy night..."

Spurs v Forest, League Cup semi-final second leg, 1992.

Barry Davies: "And... IN THERE!..."
David Pleat: "(whispers) Glover..."
Barry Davies: "GLOVER!!!"

When Pleat has to tell you the players' names, it's time to pack it in.

When i was a kid i had a match taped of Forest v Spurs at WHL 1989 forest won 1-2 and i used to watch it loads when i was a young kid. It was Erik Thorstvedt's debut however the thing i always remember from this game was sutton pulled off three stops in one attack and the commentator "Here come Tottenham again, oh great save by Sutton, and another.....oh.... and Three.... Great... Pieces of goalkeeping by... Steve Sutton" que the camera zooming on Paul Walsh hands on his head and then Steve Sutton making a big sigh and looking up at the heavens.....

Simple but always stuck with me.

I remember that, I have it on the season review of the '88/'89 season! Have to correct you though, I think it went "two great pieces of goalkeeping...and THREE, by Steve Sutton!"

Brian Moore was a propoer legend.

One commentary I would love to hear is the promotion day at Peterborough game. I was at the game so didn't get to hear it apart from the goals. My family who listened to the game that day said Radio Nottingham were totaly besides themselves.

I really enjoyed listening to the commentary from the Yeovil home playoff and thanking God, Allah and any other possible deity that I did not go there.

There was a vinyl LP of the League Cup Final against Southampton and my brother used to lift the needle off to replay the goals.

They were selling a DVD of that season in the club shop a while back, with Radio Nottingham commentary over the footage.
