His moaning/head shaking was getting on my tits yesterday - his moan at Callum Hudson Odoi for not being on the end of a 30 yard diag summed him up for me - cross that his blind pass didn't find a player that was nowhere near that space due to his defensive work.

His move backwards helped him and the team though, and I'm pleased he got the assist (and got a couple of more dangerous looking set pieces over).

We really need Morgan at his best, so I'm hoping his frustrated looking strutting around results in some output - if you're going to give the impression of someone playing with players that are beneath you, which was my personal take on how he looked yesterday, then you need to back that up with output.

Think you're above us? Show it! And if in keeping us up earns him the move so be it for me.

While it did, I still think we'd play with a ten if using him in this way - question is whether Reyna did enough to fit e that issue. I'm not so sure he did... Wonder if we see Danilo back in Tuesday.
Reyna looked a bit too weak for me to be anything other than a last 20 minute man.

Danilo may be a good suggestion. He was a goal scorer last season and playing further forward may get him firing again.

To be fair, couldn't someone have anticipated we get the ball and had already been moving into that space? In general we have a lack of football intelligence, anticipation and reading of the game. Palace's goal is a good example of that. Neco plays a poor ball but Yates and Sangare don't get in quick enough, Felipe gets dragged out and turned really poorly, Murilo left 2 on 1.

Second half, Neco got the ball on the turn and wanted to play it in behind the left back - nobody making the run. Think it was Origi still at that point (could have been Elanga), just stood there by the left back. Should have been going as soon as Neco controlled the ball.

You see players making those darts in behind our full backs all the time. We rarely do it. Elanga occasionally but Origi and CHO are never doing it, none of the CMs are really getting forward much either. Dominguez and Danilo have goals in them. As I said in the other thread, I'm surprised neither of those started.

No surprise the goals have dried up, we're a bit one dimensional still.

MGW was pretty furious throughout the game yesterday. Wasn't just a whine at CHO for not getting on the end of that blind pass but absolutely berating Sangare at times for not closing the space.

Good for him, he's the only one in the side that seems to care at the moment.

He literally pinged it out for a throw in, 30 feet away from anyone, and then went on the 'its your fault' attack. It was a shit pass.

I didn't see too much fight from him yesterday either - thought he cut a frustrated and slightly aloof figure. I don't mind breathing others so much as long as you're doing the business yourself - for me MGW didn't do enough in his own game yesterday, though he did carve out the all important assist so there's that.

I am wondering whether MGW’s future is in a deeper role. He has the engine for it I’d say. Can receive the ball in a tight spot and turn defense into attack. Dunno what attributes he’s missing? Perhaps a bit slight? Probably a better chance of an England cap as well. No chance there at the moment playing as a 10.

He just seems so angry, which is understandable given our collective form. I don’t think he’s enjoying his football and I’m sure he’ll be looking for a step up come the end of May whatever our position.

Sadly, I don’t think he’ll be with us next season.

I think you're right there, and while I think he's a great player on his day - he's probably the most technically gifted player I've seen play for us, he looked to me yesterday like a player who thought he was better than the position we are in.

Perhaps he is, but I'd like to see plenty of evidence that's the case in the remaining 8 games.

Sit in midfield.. stop taking our set pieces and we're onto a winner

I don't see why his angry, you can get frustrated but if your good enough that will show, with assists and goals. Johnson proved that, I think some one will come knocking but the valuation will need to meet what we paid for him at the least

I'm come to the conclusion that he's the anti James Ward-Prowse - one of them excellent at set pieces but not much else, the other excellent at everything apart from set pieces.

But does his excellence elsewhere on the pitch make up for 18+ months of wasted set pieces?

I saw Collymore play - and yes, I'd much rather watch him than MGW and he was a far more effective player - but what I'm talking about is from a technical point of view.

I've seen many better players than MGW for Forest, but his touch and close control in tight spaces is the best I've seen for us.

I'm not saying he's the best player I've seen for us, just that aspect: He's ridiculously gifted.

Fair point, personally I'd have said collymore was technically more gifted but I get your point about control.

Not sure he is good enough for much of a step up. A great and quick footballing brain and thinking in front of many Forest players, but not top half of PL. I'm sure he would improve with a few better players around him.

Possibly he is suffering from a bit of grounding, realising he is not quite as good as he thinks

I think he'd do well in a side with more possession and better quality around him - strikes me as a Spurs type. As well as his creative qualities he works his arse off.

I wouldn't begrudge him a move either, if he can pull off some performances/goals/assists that help us to stay up.

He is a genuine legend and yes he scored that goal against us but I f***ing love the guy that napoli warm up video is so cool to watch not sure anyone has ever had that level of control of a football and to do what he did whilst getting constantly hacked to pieces was amazing
I hate Maradona, and everything about him.

You gotta love him for his genius, womanising, general debauchery, coke induced general geezer. While I don't doubt he had his demons he never seemed like they got the best of him even though clearly they did.

One of the saddest things about gazzer even though plenty of players drank, it just looked like it got the best of him. Whereas Maradona never looked like life beat him.

Thought it was a really clever pass. No look into space where wide winger could have been set free.

But don't blame CHO for not being there as impossible to see it coming, and don't think it was fair for MGW to have a go. Try the pass by all means and hope that your winger is there but don't expect it.

Yeah that's fair - I don't mind a blind pass but I do take issue with the berating afterwards. They're mates though I believe so I'm probably looking at it out of that context, and more in the context of MGW's wider demeanour yesterday. And really, I'd have been pissed off with this behind me in Morgan's shoes yesterday, though less so with those ahead.

Can't argue those points. Wish he would knuckle down and out those match winning performances in, possibly do something from a dead ball.

This lad.

I tell you, I have not seen a better half of football from a Forest man for years. He has been immense so far, and proper looks like a Premier League attacking midfielder, and I absolutely love it.
