Right okay, that's made me dislike Radio Nottingham even more. Why now? Why not interview him whilst he's injured so he can...ah forget it, let's not get into this again

Got to feel for the bloke, the whole thing appears to have been badly handled. Why we weren't told the reason for the length of his absence is ridiculous.

Especially from an owner who used to spend a fair chunk of time f***ing about on Twitter so often. Really wouldn't have been hard to drop an update put here & there.

Someone summarise please. Can’t be arsed to listen. Did he say why he was out for so long?

It’s only 5 minutes long which is probably how long it will take me to summarise.

Basically, he felt a twinge on his Achilles which didn’t go away. Had a minor operation which didn’t help. Had a major operation which caused a few other issues and then had another op to sort out the mess from the second.

Whilst away in recovery Montanier was sacked.

Long slow and frustrating recovery and back in training with Burton and Walsall(?).

Getting back to basic fitness and hoping to return to match fitness.

I think that’s about it. :)

Whilst we paid his mortgage..... feel sorry for him.

I can't believe a manager wouldn't want to have regular catch ups with a highly paid staff member off on long term sick. If only to keep progress on their treatment, estimated return etc...

May not be the best moderator on LTLF, but he's...

You missed the "... and magically was fit and ready when contract negotiations were about to start" bit....

Ok I can't resist, I'll add one more thing.
Listening to that, he sounds like a decent bloke, generally frustrated to be hammered with injuries, and keen to get back playing, even now.
Which makes it all the more frustrating this sort of interview wasn't made during his time at Forest, that would have put to bed so many 'rumours', 'accusations' and really left no need whatsoever to speculate.
It's what frustrates me about BBC Radio Nottingham, they never show the initiative to get the key interviews, only the same old ones.

Fair play to Matty, and good luck to him, genuinely hope he finds a club.

RN don't have carte Blanche to charge into the training ground and demand interviews. I remember several times they asked just to be told he was injured. Don't blame RN for the lack of communication from the club.

So no mental health issues then, no drugs bans or any of the other outlandish rumours that people were starting.

Just a long-term injury, like we thought.
