What planet are you on? Osborn is regarded as a Great utility player by a lot of forest fans?

He was even regarded high enough by professionals that a club in the league above paid a lot of money for his services.

I think it was Hodge who made a good point about with his back to goal he too frequently tried a tricky turn or a failed meg instead of holding the ball up on the break, and in a league like this we either need a support striker with pace who can beat his man or a savvy strongman who can hold up and flick on.

He’s a talented player, of that there is no doubt; good feet, works hard and has got a quick pass on him, but if our 2nd striker can’t generate 10 goals and as many assists in a season, we need to find a man who can

Aye, Eddie would be a decent squad player had we a different setup. But typically Forest bring out the scattergun, and just bring people in with no real overall plan in mind.

Sporting Gijón (where Guerrero played between 2011 and 2016) also want him (on loan).

Here's the peice on it......

https://www.nottinghampost.com/spor...resh-speculation-emerges-over-january-4843626

Asked about those rumours, Forest boss Chris Hughton said at the time: “I’ve only just been made aware of some speculation.

“The best way to put it is, with the squad we’ve got and the numbers we’ve got in the squad, there is serious consideration going into those who are more likely to play more minutes than others.

“We will be looking to get some players out on loan.

“As regards who those individuals are, we never say anything until something happens as it’s unfair on those players and, probably at this moment, we’re not quite sure who they will be.

“But there has to be some balance in that squad.”

I’m not convinced our main striker is going to get 10 goals this season, never mind the support striker!

It's a bit weird that Guerrero apparently fell abruptly out of favour. Yes, he's not a striker of many goals, but he was diligent and helpful in the thankless role of a non-creative player behind the striker. If he had been dropped in favour of a real no. 10, then it would be understandable, but he was dropped in favour of Cafu, who's also not a no. 10.

Another common denominator is that, although neither is a very skilled player, both try to the basics (one-two plays, runs into free space) that so many of your players do not seem to do.

Why not use Cafu in his place (box-to-box midfielder), alongside Guerrero, behind Grabban? I guess the answer is the same as the one to the question "why on earth use Lolley, who can barely walk, and not Mighten?".

Because there is a huge anti Olympiakos theme with a lot of fans at the moment. You have been incredibly informative with what to expect from him. He has played pretty much to a tee how you have said, and because he hasn't banged in 20 goals, he's been written off by fans as shit.

Its tradition round here.

I know, and I would not argue with him if he had much better players in that position. But he doesn't. If he's been promised a great no. 10, a prolific secondary striker, and a couple of quality wingers, again, fine by me, but I doubt this is the case.

Whether he has been promised players or not, the squad needs trimming and an area that needs improving is goal scoring. That is the area that needs shaking up.

I am glad we are looking to move players on before signing others.

Regardless of who is coming in, we definitely need to get the wage bill down and should be looking to shift at least 5 or 6 players this month IMO. Of course, that's easier said than done.

The fact fringe players are apparently on their way out can only be seen as a positive, whether they are individually good players or not.

I think Guerrero and Ioannou have the potential to be decent players, but if they aren't going to be used then there is no point them being here.

I imagine the likes of Darikwa, Jenkinson, that goalkeeper we signed in the summer (Diallo?), Bachirou and Blackett are also candidates for the chop too.

Cafu may have been labelled as a defensive midfielder but he's still been more of a threat than Guerrero.

‘Labelled’ is the key word there. I don’t know where the ‘defensive’ part came from. He’s a midfielder (centre) according to all the respected football websites.

Yates is always seen as a defensive midfielder but he spends more time in the opposition half most games.

It's either attacking or defensive midfielder for most people.

tbf it depends what part of him is in the pitch as he can be in his half by 10 yards yet some of him is still in theirs.

Not even on the bench I see. With more strikers incoming, I suppose he's on his way out. Have there been any such rumours?

Hughton used him as a number ten, and now he’s brought in Krovinovic. Probably is on his way out.

Cafu has been better. He's grabbed a couple of goals, set up a couple of goals and is also reasonable on set pieces. Guerrero has no end product, no set piece taking ability and isn't creative. He works hard enough but that's about it.

Rest of your post makes sense to me with Cafu deeper and a proper #10 in place, which is how we're lining up today.

Guerrero can Guergogo, not needed.
