Midfield problems

All of a sudden we look a little light in midfield again.

I assume that Lewis is out for 3 games? Fletcher picked up an injury on Sat and Cohen missed the game with a bruised ankle.

That only leaves us with Perch and Thornhill by my estimation and that is a worry given Brums midfield.

I thikn Fletcher substitution may have had more to do with him being liekly to get sent off rtaher than just an injury.

Fletcher looked a bit jaded from the start, off the pace.

Calderwood said Fletcher couldnt' feel anything in his right leg so it was abit of strange one and he would have to wait for the medical team to asses it further,

I hope one of Cohen or Fletcher is fit as I'm not sure Thornhill is ready to step up against Brum

I don't fancy Chambers and Lynch as full backs either.

We are dangerous in attack though...

We still have Davies & Martin available dont we?

Yes but they cannot play in the centre.

Fletch is on the injured list if you look at the O/S but I guess time wil tell.

I think Cohen will be fit. Fletcher - who knows? I thought hed been subbed purely to prevent him being sent off - in end it wasnt him, but lewis. :frantic: but CC said something about 'no feeling in his right leg' ?? Dunno, maybe that was just a smokescreen? But be good if he's ok, especially with no lewis now for 3 games. So annoying about McGugan, one minute he's back, then he's out again, this time for diff reason! With Moussi out still too, we really need Fletcher and Cohen, at least, to be able to continue. Think Thornhill is getting closer, but I maybe see him as perhaps more effective off the bench, as he can get you a goal if needed late on. Still we may be forced to play him from start.

Time to call up the mighty midget from the reserves.

Don't mention a look in for Martin this week the player is utter garbage and the longer he doesn't play the better.

Garbage? Get real!! He is not the most comitted but hardly garbage chum. If his application and bottle matched his talent he would be a world beater.

I agree. CC obviously doesn't think he had the bottle required in the last two games and he seems to have been proved right.

I think Garath McCleary seems to be a superb find. He looks 100% committed to the cause and never stops running. The same can be said for Paul Anderson, which is why both Lee Martin and Arron Davies aren't getting near the starting line-up.

does any one know if we are gonna appeal against the red??

not saying we should just a question.

I just mentioned this in the Birmingham match thread.

It appears not, as the OS mentiones Lewis' three game ban allowing Cohen to return should he be fit.

i think fletcher is a bit of a donkey to be honest.

hes just a bruiser who stands there.

That's because you don't no-one understands the holding Midfield role.

He's certainly no world beater, but he was the experienced head we were lacking in the spine of our team.

He's definitely worth holding on to until Moussi is fit again, but after that, he probably wont be needed.

Now Breckin is back, we have another experienced player in the spine and I think that has showed in the last couple of games.

I just hope that Brecks isn't dropped on Saturday as I think it could be the decisive factor between defeat and avoiding such a score-line.

Hopefully so.

I think it's a case of still being hungry for the game which is definitely a good thing. I do think he only has this season left in him, though.

I also hope he doesn't burn out through playing too much.

Calderwood praised him after his recent performances:

"You have to look at the stats. He has often been involved when we have taken points and he has never done badly for us," Calderwood told the Nottingham Evening Post.

"He knows himself that he can no longer play Saturday and Tuesday. But the reason Brecks is playing is because he is the best header of the ball at the club. He is composed on the ball and he still has a lot to give us.

"It might not be every week, but he has an important role to play in the squad this season," added Calderwood.

That's fair.

Thing is, if he gets tired and Wilson comes in, would he get his place back?
