What's interesting is that in Laing and Mancienne, Pearce has bought in two players with a point to prove, and both can play CB or DM.

A very good point. Flexibility like that will be vital over a season. And to think a few weeks back some of us were a little disappointed we didn't get Peltier! Talk about an upgrade…

I am definitely NOT ITK, but I called this on another thread, just because of how often SP played him. Delighted with this signing, both as a centre back, and in my opinion, for his best position of DM. I wonder if this means that Leigertwood is struggling with injury and won't sign?

Really like this signing, again.

Pearce panicking that Collins is nearer to the pitch than he should be, and not just getting bodies in, but getting quality in. Class signing.

Not a fan of mr Mancienne I'm afraid.

Hamburg have been crap defensively for the entirety of his time there and he could not force himself into the side regularly.

When I've seen him (5 or 6 times over the past couple of years) he looks shaky, indecisive and prone to errors as well as appearing to lack the aggression a centre back needs.

Hopefully Pearce has seen enough in him during his time with the under 21's to know if coached right he could be a decent player.

As far as the standard of the Bundesliga - Bayern and BvB are ahead of the top teams in the prem. Unforuntately the rest of the Bundesliga is made up of a lot of dross. I'd rank it somewhere between Italy and France.

Can't he play centre back, right back and in midfield? Perhaps Fizco has another thing in mind for him?

Got faith in SP and his signings especially when it comes to players he's put through the U21 squad. Great news - especially if Mancienne is as versatile as he's cracked up to be through defense and midfield

Defensive mid for tough away games? Him, Vaughan and Lansbury as a middle three would be a tidal force

Which squad though? The Germans were about 24 average. If he was that good he'd have just won the world cop

Good question Milky Joe. Why wasn't Mancienne in the Germany squad if he was that good? Eh?

He's a midfielder that can play centre-back, not a centre-back that can play midfield. Lascelles is going nowhere.

Excellent addition though, very composed player if I remember correctly.

Metershacker is a rock I guess but he could have been in the 22

Bloody Germans, what do they know, not picking Mancienne for the World Cup.
