Meet the New-Look Recruitment Team (The same as the old team (nearly))

Heffing Psycho!

Steve Chettle
Daniel Taylor on Twitter suggesting a new-look recruitment team is going to be put in place over the summer, starting with a recruit from crack German outfit VfB Stuttgart!

"George Syrianos, currently head of analytics at VfB Stuttgart, is taking a senior role at Forest in a new-look recruitment team. Should be announced in coming weeks."

Interestingly, just found his Twitter page and in the last minute or so he's deleted this most recent Tweet, seems as though he might be getting a band together:

Interesting…

He is highly regarded, and works under Sporting Director Sven Mislintat (who is a firm favourite of mine, as anyone who’s read my ramblings in the „European and other Football…“ thread will attest to). Speaks fluent English too, apparently.

Here’s his LinkedIn page: https://de.linkedin.com/in/syrianosgeorgios

VfB uses a highly-focussed analysis-based approach to recruitment, casting a wide net throughout Europe, north and south America and Asia-Pacific in the hunt for players.

The Mislintat-way is to sign young, talented players who can make the step up and who can then increase in value, and potentially be sold on for a lucrative return.

Such a strategy since Sven Mislintat arrived has seen the club unearth some absolute gems, such as forwards Sasa Kalijdzic, Nicolas Gonzalez and Silas Wamangituka, and midfielders Wataru Endo, Orel Mangala and Borna Sosa.

The approach is methodical, and not rushed. The club have also signed players specifically to develop, with no pressure on them.

If this is the way Forest are leaning, then two things:

1. it’s about bloody time, and
2. this could be excellent

I probably don’t have to remind you that Sven Mislintat and his staff built a squad that got promoted from the 2. Bundelsiga last Season!

The year is 2032 on my FM save. Forest have won the quadruple for the second year in a row. We'll now take a look back at the players the fans now consider heroes...

The season isn't over yet and the soul crushing hope has started to creep in once more.

With Vrentzos potentially off and now this, it seems like we've identified the areas where things haven't worked last season and are doing something about it.

This sounds a. fantastic, why did noone think of this earlier and b. wildly at odds with current club policy and those supporters who want the manager's head on a pike if we're not promoted by November.

Never been to New Look so can't comment on their HR people

My ex used to buy loads of clothes there though

Did she buy a whole new wardrobe of clothes every summer and then leave half of them unused for most of the next 3 years?

Sounds promising, hopefully not another false dawn when it comes to the recruitment, got to get that balance right and as you say it's about time we did, need the right people in the right roles.

Music to my ears.

Just need someone above him (CEO / Sporting Director / whoever) that's on the same page.

Edit: Although, I suppose he might be coming as some type of Sporting Director? I doubt he'd be leaving VFB unless we'd offered him sort some of upgraded role.

I would imagine he will be Sporting Director, considering we are apparently having a reshuffle. Hopefully he will be here for some time and have full control.

But who recruits the recruiters? And for that matter who recruits the recruiters that recruit the recruiters :frantic:
