Dont think he could have done much more for the first two, third he has to own.

Whatever with the keeper situation, we have more pressing issues elsewhere.

If we're saying that elite keepers don't parry the ball back into danger then I guess we don't consider Keylor Navas an elite keeper. Some short memories in here.
If I recall correctly, Navas was castigated on the Forum for those errors.
Those sort of errors typified an elite keeper whose career was on the wane.

Bin VAR!
The problem is that we were spoilt with samba. Shot stopping, catching, organising, presence, distribution, shit housing, pens - he ticked all of the boxes that none after have. Question is will the Greek and there’s only one way to find out.
Lens got a bloody bargain!

Navas wasn't great either.

Thedefensive shambles for the first two goals preclude any criticism of one man. The whole defence deserves criticism.

The third was so glaring that it just lays bare the whole performance of the keeper. What can have been going on in his mind?

I think it clears the way for a look at the other keeper, apologies for not being able to spell his name from memory.. Excuses could have been made for Turner in his other displays, but that was just the final nail.

I think Turner's actions for the third were a direct response to Forest playing a more aggressive game, 20 yards further up the pitch.
Turner, having seen how Allison played between 18 yard box and halfway line tried to emmulate that sweeper keeper.
What he forgot to factor in was that Allison is supremely confident sweeper keeper, while Turner is not confident unless he is well within his own penalty box.

I never did for us at least he was even worse for it different keepers have different area's there good at navas reactionary saves were world class the rest of his keeping was suspect at times as I said its a harsh viewpoint but maybe the Greek has this in his locker.
For what it's worth I think Turner has done ok but not outstanding before yesterday I thought it would be harsh to drop him but now I think it could be justified

I'm inclined to believe that Matt possibly still has some credit in the bank as far as Steve is concerned, and that he'll keep his place.

He was better than Turner for me. Turner makes less difficult saves and looks more dodgy.
Yeah agree with that. Thought Navas flattered to deceive considering his pedigree but I'd have him over Turner who for me looks like a number 2 at this level.

I do think the 3rd goal is reason enough to give Vlachodimos a chance - if not, he'd be justified in wondering if it'll ever happen. In some mitigation though, while Turner obviously gives Toffolo a shout, I do think Toffolo looks like he'll head it anyway until the last moment, effectively dummying Turner. I think the initial mistake is Turner's in even coming for it in the first place though. So as you were really.

Navas is a veteran who was 2nd choice at PSG otherwise we wouldn't have got him. Though keepers do go on for a while I don't think there were many 1st choice PL keepers older - maybe only Fabianski.

His skills are clearly on the wane though he is definitely still a decent enough keeper.

So he made a total fudge of the 3rd (what was he thinking going out there) and I suppose for the first he was a bit unfortunate to save it right into Jota's path, but then at least he saved it.

And without Turner's saves it would have been about 7 or 8.

Could I ask, of those wanting the Greek lad to be given a chance - how many of you have actually seen him play? I haven't, so don't really know what he has to offer and whether or not he is better than Turner I don't know, so I'd trust the view of SC and the coaching staff on whether they feel, working with both GKs every day, which one should be playing. If we're asking for MT to be dropped just to see the other one instead, because he isn't Turner, that's a bit silly - it would be like in the promotion season us asking to drop Samba so we could see what Horvath is like, or last season wanting to drop Hendo or Navas to see what Hennessey was like instead.

He's number 1 for Greece but so what, they aren't blessed with amazing talent and brilliant keepers - and Matt is number 1 for the USA which is a comparison.

If Turner did give a shout, then toffolo was justified in pulling out of challenging for the ball.
And if Turner did give a shout he has to get to the ball, even if it means going through Toffolo to get there.
Last week we saw Wood drop to the floor in the 6-yard box when he got a shout from MGW.
As a player you have to be prepared to do that when a team mate gives the shout.
If you don't then team communication suffers.
And MGW and Turner in giving ther shout should have made damn sure they did the necessary.
And both MGW and Turner were guilty of failing to do that - MGW shouting "leave it, Chris" should have scored.
Not scoring there probably cost us 2 points.
Turner cost us a goal... but the game was already gone by then.

I don't recall the MGW/Wood situation? Who put the cross in?

Anyway yes you're right, Turner should have gone for it regardless, but I do think Toffolo dummied him slightly.

So how do you know the Greek is better and isn't a more southern version of Mad Vlad or Aro the Flap?

I want to see the Greek lad play - can't make a call on who's the better keeper till they've both had a run at it.

Turner worries me with every backpass, which must go through the players minds too
