I watched a documentary about that not too long ago. Very powerful - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0799954/

Yup, fantastic documentary. The story about the lad who decided he wanted to live halfway down the jump was powerful, a sea lion nudging him afloat still blows my mind.

I think he’s some sort of advocate for suicide awareness now, the guy not the sea lion.

Well, I just watched the last 30 minutes. My over arching conclusions from this? One, we don't deserve to stay up. IF we do, it's because there is so much dross at the bottom of the table. Two, fire the f***ing set piece coach. Three, any number of our players are nowhere near as good as much of us either think, or they think. Anyone who think MGW is anywhere near being called up for England is insane. Ross Barkley is an infintiely better player right now. It's not like MGW is bad, but he is a guy who far too often does next to nothing. Elanga isn't a smart player. If you took away his pace, you'd get next to nothing. Yates isn't good enough for this division. We overpaid for Sangare way too much, and, quite frankly, the same applies for MGW. I think that Nuno Espirito Santo is a manager with limited ideas. He improved our structure, but we are a team that is almost entirely devoid of creativity. That might not be NES's fault, in fairness. How many points can we take from the next five? Don't bet the mortgage on more than three. And I am afraid three won't be good enough. We are a drab, shitty f***ing football team.

Id have taken a point before the game, but as always the way the game develops always makes you think differently. Luton away is notoriously a very difficult game this season for every team. But not losing, and stopping the negative rot we’ve been on is more important to me. LETS SEE IT AS A POSITIVE. Coyr

If we’d gone a goal down and rescued it then relieved even happy with a point but as you say, we saw the table with us six points clear at one point.

The best part of the game was Murillo trying to score from the other end of the pitch, other clubs will be sniffing around in the Summer no doubt.

The free kick that MGW put over the top should have been give to Murillo as I reckon if he hits it properly both the ball and defender in the wall will end up in the net.

We really do need to stop MGW taking corners as they are basically only causing a second ball situation for us, CHO should try for a game and see if it helps.

Otherwise it’s all eyes on tomorrow, once that is known, assuming no appeal will be made, the players will stop thinking about it, know what is needed and I believe play with more freedom.
Hope this doesn’t turn out to be BS, I still believe we can do this.
We also need to remember that Everton will also get another points deduction which could play into our hands very nicely :)

Well, let’s hope tomorrow we’re level with Luton and the 10 game season begins. Regardless of what we’ve spent and opinions as to which players are PL standard, ultra short term view is it’s about having the players that are good enough to finish top of the bottom four !

Two, fire the f***ing set piece coach.

Well we don't actually use him, and Nuno doesn't seem to want to use anyone other than his own men. So I'd sack them first tbh lol.

Toffolo took a few corners earlier in the season and looked pretty good at it. Why not give him another go ffs?

I remember a left footed defender who used to take most of the free kicks and score most of the free kicks. Why not get Murillo on them all?

Alternatively just keep doing the same old shite.
My shout for corner taker would be Neco, Hes by far our best crosser from open play so surely he can take a corner.

Try all of them for me, just jet MGW off them.

Part of me seriously wonders if there is something in MGWs contract stating he needs to take them, in order to help his assist stats (and thus worth/value) 🤷‍♂️

Set pieces is one thing (absolutely needs to come off them), but MGW is our best player, with only Murillo threatening that. Let’s not go through last season’s nonsense again when he was hounded on this forum most of the year before having a purple patch and getting player of the year. We’d be a completely blunt instrument without him.

As it stands we dont look capable of beating anyone in the division so looking at the fixtures of other teams is totally pointless.
Here is the way I see it, Luton have 2 away they have no chance of winning, we have 2 at home we should win.
That puts us 9 points in front of them after the next 2 games. Even the pundits said luton were lucky to get a
point. Though they don't say it, but now Bentford are in the mix. I thought they would win at Burnly. Maybe,
just maybe our season starts after this break......C.O.Y.Reeeeeeds

If true, what’s the coach been doing for 6 months?
Been reported elsewhere in places like the Athletic that Marinakis was very frustrated about set piece incompetance and attempted to foist a coach on Cooper who refused to accept the advice and the solution. Just prior to Cooper's departure Rusk was hired , a guy without any obvious specialist experience but someone Cooper knew from previous work places. Since then , Nuno has sidelined Rusk, apparently using his own team for set piece work but the problem clearly remains

The frustration is that given set piece defending in particular is about organisaton and confidence rather than technical ability , you'd hope work on the training ground would see an improvement.

Both Brighton and Luton's goals saw Yates phsyically move a dangerous player away from where the ball eventually was played clearing space for the opposition - and in Luton's case - players in space , without markers tracking back . Surely this can be improved on?

Incredible how much negativity you can get from 30mins…I’d advise against watching 90.

If we stay up we deserve to stay up because that’s how a league works.

This is the sort of thinking I try to avoid at this point, simply because we are not delivering. You say we should win these games but it means absolutely nothing to me.

Until we start delivering our part of the bargain im paying no attention to who others are playing, its totally pointless.
