We have got to get the glass half full attitude about things.
If they had just won their last 2 games easily we would be saying they are going to batter us because they are in form.
Take Neco Williams as an example he was up against gordon on Saturday and instead of defending the whole time he took the fight to gordon and it was gordon on the back foot.
We beat these in our first season back when we were a lot weaker and they were a lot stronger than they are now.
Williams didn't just nullify the threat, he absolutely mugged him off a couple of times. He was brilliant.

Investing my life savings into underwear manufacturers before this one.

Every time Yates fouls someone and Ward-Prowse takes the set piece, 30,000 are going to collectively shit their pants.

It's like printing free money.

Don’t worry, we are impenetrable from set pieces….

Play MGW alongside Dominguez, play CHO & Elanga either side of Reyna with Taiwo up top.

Its enough defensively, the ball will always be going forward & the stupid fouls are negated.

We twat West ham with that, trust me.

Early doors for predicting a team as we don't know injury status of returnees from Africa yet, or of any injury worries from Saturday evening. However, I do like to rise to the challenge therefore I am happy to name my team:

-----------------Sels------------------
Williams---Boly----Niakhate----Tavares
---------Yates--------Sangare-----------
Elanga--------MGW------Hudson-Odoi
--------------Awoniyi--------------------

In the Forest-Focus, Kelvin said Sels should have saved the 3rd goal, despite it being a bad decision by elanga to pass across the box like he did.
Despite that I think he remains the slight favourite of the 12 goalkeepers we have.
We need Boly to put some oooph into the heart of our back 4, and I think Niakhate rather than Murillo, as I think the youngster could benefit from a rest - he is a terrific player, but errors seem to becoming more frequent.
I don't rate Tavares, but I think NES does, so he continues to get the nod over Toffolo.
Dominguez and Yates isn't a good pairing, and I think that NES will feel obliged to play Sangare.
It could b equally likely NES drops Yates and plays Sangare alongsideDominguez, but I am guessing Yates having just been named as Club Captain following the loan-out of Joe Worrall would be hard to drop. If he is dropped it might pu a curse on the title Club Captain!
Assuming Elanga, MGW, CHO, and Taiwo are fit, I think they all get to start.
What I can't see at the moment is how Reya or Ribeiro fit into a starting line-up.

Wasn't a lot wrong with Saturday beyond the set piece defending so same here I'd keep it the same but stick Boly in if he's fit.

He missed the afcon final with a hamstring issue though so would be surprised if he's fit.

If Boly isn't fit, then maybe put Felipe in alongside Murillo and have Niakhate on the bench.
Murillo will learn a lot from Felipe, and Felipe is a hard bugger who might just be the man to end our weakness at defending set pieces.

I'd be tempted to play Felipe & Boly at CB and push Murillo/Niakhate to LB. Not ideal but we have to start defending our box better, especially against a West Ham side who'll pose a threat from set pieces.

If it's good enough for City/Arsenal then it might be worth a try. We have enough quality in the front 6 to hurt teams, they just need a solid platform to play from.

Wonder if Felipe is due a start anyway. If he's fully fit and back to his best then he needs to start as he was immense last season.

Thought Dominguez was top drawer against Newcastle. Played that destroyer role far better than Yates or Sangarre, broke up play clean as a whistle & passed it forwards. Dropping him would be harsh in the extreme, particularly given the performance yates put in.

Genuinely think its time to put our best players on the pitch & take it from there, to that end, you have to find a spot for MGW & Reyna, the former would be more than capable at the base, the sooner he gets the ball the better in my opinion.

Personally, I would prefer to see Yates dropped and dominguez partner Sangare: energy and guile together.
I'm not sure how to fit Reyna into the same starting team as MGW, when defensively we are weak.

Think the team will be:

Sels
Williams Niakhate Murillo Tavares
Dominguez Danilo
Elanga MGW CHO
Awoniyi

I personally think the team should be:

Idontcare
Williams Boly Murillo Niakhate
Yates Dominguez
Reyna MGW Elanga
Awoniyi

Statto

I would go with

Sels
Neco Niakitty Murillo Aina
Sangare Dominguez
CHO MGW Elanga
Taiwo

Get Niakitty to make meowing noises near that cat kicker at set pieces...

These are still 8th in the league and Newcastle just above them in 7th and they only just scraped a win against us.
Is it me or is the standard of quality poor/inconsistent outside the top five?

We’ve got to start winning some of these games, I’m fed up with losing by fine margins.

Yep.

I don't expect us to be winning all games like these though that's for sure, I don't even expect us to be winning or even taking points from the majority of them. But when teams are off-form and coming to our place you simply can't keep playing those off-form sides and not taking anything time & time again.

A point here wouldn't be ideal, but at least it would be something. Not getting anything from Arsenal, Newcastle & West Ham at home would simply be awful regardless of where they are in the league; you simply have to make home advantage count at some point, and last year it kept us up.

I saw a table earlier that said that if we had won the games we've lost 3-2, we'd be sat I'm 6th place!

Fine margins.

Just checked this out and yeah it's true we've lost 3-2 6 times! so table would have looked like this if we'd won them all.

Worse thing could have happened them gerrin slaughtered.

We're in trouble here.
It certainly makes it a more difficult game.
West Ham were embarrassingly bad against Arsenal - I am sure we will see a more determined and better organised team this week.
We need the points.
I think we have enough to win this one.
Forest 3-1 West Ham (I have forgotten where the nought numeral is on the keyboard)
