Mark Warburton Sacked

Something has tipped the board over the edge, rather than for them to stay calm and see it out like they said they would. Maybe it was the amount of games we’ve lost this season, the constant poor defending, and then finally losing at home to the bottom team and looking impotent in the process. But then they should have been prepared for that, because we were a relegation threatened team last season.

Yesterday would have tipped most boards over the edge. It’s not the losing, it’s the way we lose so pathetically and limply. As I said before, the manager can only do so much and the sort of attitude you need from 11 players on the pitch you can’t really coach. I don’t buy age as an excuse. I’m personally fed up of watching opposition players coming to the CG and working their arse off for 90 minutes from the first whistle and our players not doing the same. How often do we put in a real shift for a full 90 minutes?

I always thought going from Dougie to Montanier and then Warburton was from one extreme to the other. Why can’t we just be normal for once and play some normal football. You know, like the stuff that won us 2 European Cups. No relentless ugly shit, no ridiculous tippy tally at the back costing us goals. Let alone it being hard to be successful at that, it’s not even entertaining to watch. The best moments this season have been when we’ve had focus to our attack, got players forward and with a bit of pace. Exactly like the Forest we grew up watching. You can handle a loss when you’ve given it a real good go, which is why the reaction after the Wesnesday loss wasn’t as bad as the Sunderland one despite the difference in scores.

Obviously, the most important thing now is getting someone in who has a clue how to organise the back 4 and midfield to stop letting in 2 goals a game. We’re lucky there’s more worse teams in the league this year than last, so we won’t go down. I say let’s get safe and then start bringing any more talent we have through and phase out players like Vaughan, Mancienne and Murphy. Even Dowell. They aren’t the future of this team or club so are little use going forward.

The only letter he should be writing is his own resignation letter for openly backing the manager and then sacking him. That shows seriously flawed judgement which makes him not fit for purpose.

Do we know for sure that Randall was party to the sacking decision?

Marinakis strikes me as the kind of guy who makes his own decisions and everyone either likes it or lumps it.

A shame and hugely disappointing that the new Chairman has quickly broken his first promise that Warburton is the right man for the job and would be given time, but this is what happens in life.

You can say any old words that you’re going to this and that, but when you’re deeply involved in the moment, it’s another story altogether.

Gary Brazil’s record in charge is even worse so we’d better move quickly to replace Warburton with someone decent. My worry now is who in their right mind would come here?

The worrying thing is that you tend to find that a trigger happy owners trigger finger becomes more twitchy with time too.

It's like that film, 'Heaven Can Wait.'
Oh hang on, no it isn't.

They needed to back Warburton with more dough. Has anyone done that? Am I too late?

It is what it is...were Nottingham Forest, it is what it is!

No doubt they are serious about promotion or have a 5 year plan?

I do think the Chairman made a huge error by publicly backing Warburton at the beginning of the season and telling us he’s here for the long term, however I sense he felt we would have been hanging around the playoffs this season after our great escape last season where Warburton rejuvenated the squad, breathed a confidence into the players, and introduced an attractive playing style.

I think it’s all a sign of the time unfortunately, where most people expect quick and significant improvements to keep happening. Or nothing. There’s no patience these days to see people work hard and get better. And it happens at every club.

I didn't want the guy sacked but if there was a falling out and a difference of opinion it's a different story. Him & McParland also have previous with this.

Carry on the good work that has been started and we will all forget within a year, change things completely and make a mess of the whole thing and we will remember. Simple as that!

How many times do we go round the same merry-go-round before realizing that it's commonplace though?

Karanka who's current fave to take over, walked out Boro's training ground after an argument and considered his future at the club, and responsibilities for the subsequent match was handed to his assistant Steve Agnee. They didn't sack him, he returned & they got promoted.

It's common place, and we need an owner who can bare with what is part of everyday lives - fallouts & scraps.

EVERYONES got previous regards fallouts BECAUSE WE ARE HUMAN BEINGS  And human beings fallout.

We said this every time Fawaz sacked a manager. Never turned out well.

But the problem is appointing these were a big part of the “good work” in the first place.

In hindsight I think maybe Eric Lichaj running around the pitch celebration had a little more to it than comedic effect.

I don't believe anything the Daily Mail prints usually but if the following is true we are heading down the Fawaz interfering route again.

"McParland left in acrimonious circumstances having had his role at the club limited, with Vrentzos taking an active role in negotiations for potential signings."

Good post, I agree with you. Yesterday for example the City Ground was very quiet and stayed that way. Against Sheffield Wednesday as soon as Wednesday scored the crowd went quiet. I've had the same seat for the past 25 seasons in the Lower BC and the lack of support is quite staggering. There are guys that I know that have never shouted encouragement to the team. There are others who moan at the very first mistake one of our players make. There is no room for error with many of our fans. We have a very young team but there's no tolerance whatever. It must be horrible to play at the City Ground........

Reclaiming the Brigeford end, being shit for 2 decades and having bouncers instead of stewards has killed the atmosphere at Forest.

I admire what the FG guys try to do, but it appears they're more interested in letting off flares on a boat than generating an intimidating atmosphere.

If they had done any research, the owners would know they'd be better off raffling off the caretaker manager's job on a game by game basis than putting Brazil back in charge of the first team.

Difference here though is that the Greeks are already running a hugely successful club in Greece, unlike Fawaz who had no f***ing clue

Same old shit, different owners.

Just a quick stat (we all love a stat)

Warburton sits on a win % of 44.2%. Only two managers have better, Brain Clough on 46.2% and Barlow/McParland on 61.5% but that was only over a 13 games period.

Great job to fans like Adam, keep up the good work.

If I was the CEO then I would want to be heavily involved in the most important aspect of our business and I would certainly want to know the financials involved. The interpretation from McP could be interference while V would just see it as his role in the club. I am sure he has involved himself in all aspects of the business as at the end of the day he is responsible.

Not a huge surprise. Lack of any real progress on the pitch, and the same fundamental problems every single week not being addressed were MW’s downfall. If anything the team was getting worse. Not surprised at the timing either what with transfer window about to open. At least the decision makers at the club have acted decisively and all the positives this season have been off field anyway. They’d obviously lost faith in MW and FM, and so it seems a no brainer.

I would hope the new management team is already lined up. Didn’t someone say a new Director of Football was already at the club? If so that’s a step forward from having the manager’s mate making signings.
A no brainer is correct. I think I mean that in a different way to you. All I see is another short sighted sacking . Lihaj's shot hitting the inside of the post? Murphy getting a header on target. Maybe the owners don't care about the quality of football and stability as much as they promised. Spoiled my day.

Mark Warburton Statement via the LMA:

David Weir and I are extremely disappointed to be leaving NFFC, a club we were proud to represent during the past 9 months.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the players for their hard work & efforts since we joined. The team has made significant progress since avoiding relegation at the end of last season, and we look forward to seeing the young squad improve.

We wish to thank everyone connected with the club for their support and for the opportunity to lead such a fantastic football club.

Finally, our best wishes to the fans who have shown tremendous support & encouragement to the team and us during our time at Nottingham Forest."

For objectivity what’s his loss ratio and ppg ratio? Because I don’t believe Warburton is a better manager than Clark, Basset, Hart, Davies or Sod.

By my very quick maths (and just considering league games) MW is on 1.24 points per game.

For comparison, Billy MK II is 1.57, SoD is 1.5, Dougie is 1.3 and Pearce is 1.21
