Mark Arthur sacked

The only redeeming feature if the Billy mk2 and Price debacle was how short it was.

I reckon they would have done worse to the club than Marthur did.

They wouldn't have taken us to L1 mate. The lowest we dropped to was 7th. You could stick 5 embargos on Billy, and he wouldn't get relegated.

Marthur inherited a Prem side at totally decimated that, flogging all our Prem kids in the process. Not to mention took 2 playoff sides, got one relegated and then almost got the next one relegated by skanking both managers.

Like I say, I think a longer term Marthur + Fawaz combo would have seen us League 2 material

In a long line of bad things to happen to the club this millennium, IMO Marthur was probably the worst. The damage others may have done is nothing compared to the damage he did do. Hell he employed Davies without taking the proper time to look into his nature or demands. He started the whole mess with him anyway.

You do him an injustice. He was a top football administrator and we sometimes overlook his achievement in reducing a staggering £120k a week loss to a mere £6.25m a year when he sold all that talent and broke up Paul Hart's playoff team.

Marthur was an employee of the club not the owner.
I sat on the M1 in stationary traffic in the rain the morning after our collapse against Sheffield United in the
2003 play-offs.
It really summed up my mood when Marthur came on the radio and stated 'we are dealing in reality now'-which was
code for Nigel Doughty doesn't fancy investing more money into a lost cause.
The 'reality' was 3 years in the 3rd tier and our worst league position in the history of the club.

Hey, I'm not saying he was any good I just think the Price debacle would have been worse if it lasted as long.

Marthur systematically destroyed the club from being a Prem club to a League 1 one. You're having a laugh Oats. Whatever damage Price did it was nothing compared to Marthur.

We'd be in League 2 now if the Fazza + Marthur combo continued.

I think you either misunderstood or mis-read my post Alf. I spent over 40-years of my working life in the construction industry, yet I'm convinced that I could have done a far better job than that f***ing corrupt fraud, Price.

That's hardly a ringing endorsement of Arthur - a bloke who has his own special place in the history of the demise of NFFC.

To be fair. He employed Joe Kinnear to reduce the wage bill - and he saved millions every week. According to his diaries

In the wake of the current racist scandal engulfing Yorkshire CCC, Simon Jordan offered an interesting opinion of Arthur on TalkSport this morning. Having dealt with him on a number of occasions when MA was Forest's CEO, Jordan found him to be a "weak and lightweight" character.

Simon Jordan-now theres a titanic ego looking for validation. I can imagine him and Marthur being like chalk and cheese.
Despite my natural instinct to disagree 100% with everything the "Jordan" says within a microsecond, I think on this single occasion hes got it right...

Needless to say, Marthur is mentioned a few time.

There is no one associated with this awful situation who will come out of it without huge stains on their character.
Truth is people occupying positions of power, particularly people like Marthur need to understand its not just about drinking Gin and tonics with the great and the good and wearing a club tie, they are there to uphold the culture, image and integrity of the great sporting institutions they FORMALLY represent (and say what you like but YCCC is one). For this he was presumably paid serious money and he has clearly failed in his primary duty hands down. Its a desperate and sad indictment.

To my mind he should be utterly ashamed of himself and its quite right that his reputation is tarnished. I can't see how he will ever work again in any related industry and you know what that's probably fair enough...

...and without getting too political, its also why I get so angry about the carryings on of MP's, turning a buck on the side for the highest bidder when they should be representing their constituents and doing the right thing for their country..

Leadership has to be about integrity.....

Agree wholeheartedly.

As with any job, you know what you're getting in to. If you're not prepared to give your whole time to the job, find something else to do.

Good posts mate.

Leadership and integrity are to Marthur what sunlight & crucifixes are to vampires.

One can only hope the offers he receives in future are derisory ones.

It's just like old times. I am amazed he didn't end his statement talking about war chests and being careful what you wish for.

I am more astonished he didn’t point out two completely random cricketers who wanted to sign for Yorkshire?

Just think.

If he hadn't try to supress that report and just published it and had Yorkshire take the hit, this would probably all have been forgotten about 6 months ago with barely any repercussions outside of an out of court settlement.

However, now his actions have bought the whole of English cricket to it's knees and bought a microscopic inspection of every action which it will almost definitely won't survive intact.

Mark Arthur. The man who destroyed English cricket.
