In the starting line-up for the Europa League final today. Really odd season for him!
Bet you he's regretting not making more of an impact in Nottingham.

Also, Rafa Mir is on the bench for Sevilla. It feels really strange whenever I see his name on the scoresheet for Sevilla.

Has bade gone or is he ours next season?
He was on loan from his French club, got recalled, and loaned out again to Sevilla.

He was never ours

Would love to know the story behind this one.

I can only assume its off the pitch stuff that stopped him playing, as he's clearly good enough to be picked over Steve Cook.

Reading back it looks more likely that his club just got a better offer for him to be playing European football rather than in a relegation dogfight so requested we didn’t play him so they could loan him out elsewhere?

I think that would have happened after it became clear we weren't planning to use him extensively (ie when Cook got the nod ahead of him).

Not sure if that's intended but that can read somewhat disparaging in the direction of Cook.

So he's the wrong side of 30 and not what we need long term nor is he better than 5 or 6 of our CBs.

But he is an experienced player from years with Bournemouth including promotion and PL experience and was key to us going up last season and wasn't embarrassing when called upon this season.

He's not PL standard but its easy to see why Cooper trusted the defensive unit from last season especially once Niakhate was injured and before we had Boly and Felipe. Unlike Worrall and McKenna, Cook at least has been here before.

I guess the other point which was brought up before is language - at that point we were using 3 English speaking CBs with an English speaking GK behind and either another English LB (or Lodi) and a Welsh RB (or Aurier who played for Spurs). We don't know how good (or bad) Bade's communication would be in that unit - or even Biancone. Boly and Aurier would be good English speakers from years playing here and of course have other languages in common with Niakhate, Navas and Felipe later on.

Sometimes it isn't just about raw ability but about partnerships and units which I'd imagine Cooper is big on

Unintended disparagement- I use the example as if you've been bought in to improve a defensive line and the old defenders are getting the nod ahead of you it's clear your going to find it though to break through.

Good point on the language thing - Cooper alluded to that being an issue early on I think.

Anyhow, as other have said all's well that ends well (for both - turns out we didn't need Bade).

Being ultra critical, he looked the weakest of Sevilla's defensive unit. Got away with a couple of miskicks which could have been crucial too.

Did we have an option on him when he was here?
Yes, £10m apparently.

If that would have become an obligation after a few games, similar to Wood, I think it would explain the reluctance to play him while there were still doubts.

Yeah possibly. It’s a bit of a shame he escaped but let’s be honest, we’ve arguably got three to five better defenders anyway. £10m wasn’t where we needed to spend the cash then or now, unless it’s part of a significant improvement in the current back three.

We don’t know what actually happened-or I don’t anyway! So think it’s unfair to instantly blame Forest. He may have been a disruptive influence, not fit, Cooper just didn’t fancy-all non of the above and other reasons. We don’t know-but he was quickly shipped out for a reason.
