Was Forest's squad really that big in comparison to other PL squads & even so I'm sure Cooper managed to assess Bade & make a judgement
Not just about the size of it, also about having as massive amount of players being dumped on you in one go. Almost impossible task to ask a manager to judge all of those perfectly, one was bound to slip the net whoever was manager.

I agree it was a tough gig for SC but there wasn't much choice in summer 22 as there was bugger all left from the promotion squad & the majority of what was left was nowhere near the required standard

Not disputing that at all, we had little choice, but I doubt that made the job any easier.

Some players need more time to get used to the premier league than others. Some adapt to a different culture quicker. Look at Murillo, cooper quickly gave him a debut and trusted him so played him. It’s not like cooper has no record of doing this. Same with Danilo, dropped him in quite early and gave him an extended run as he settled quite well.

Some work some don’t.

Maybe he was a young lad in a foreign country and didn’t settle well initially. Maybe using Steve cook who had experience at the level and was a settled 30 year old man from the UK made more sense at that time. Maybe he’ll go to spurs and have the same issues and he bombs and is shipped back out again like they have done with many other players.
Yes

And also the point being that football is about combinations on the pitch. We pretty much signed a new team in the summer and it was clear the plan initially was to carry on with the same system and idea, it was later we dropped into the low block so we didn't get torn apart every week.

The promotion side was based quite a lot on combinations - Spence and Johnson attacking down the right, Worrall and Spence defending down the right, McKenna, Cook and Worrall in the middle, Garner and Zinckernagel in attacking midfield with Yates, Davis, Surridge or Grabban linking in up front.

Most of those players left but we could still at least field McKenna, Cook and Worrall as a unit who knew each other. Then we had Neco who knew Brennan from Wales. Partnerships which were already established.

Boly, Bade, Biancone, Niakhate etc might have been better players (or in the case of 2 of them we may not know for us) but it's more partnerships to get used to each other...

It's pretty simple, 30+ players is a LOT to handle, especially when so many are dumped on you in one window. Assessing these players becomes way harder with that many to sift through, and playing them is a risk...something which Cooper rightly didn't do as he kept us up.

No one's saying Cooper was perfect, but between what Coops said via Carragher and what Nuno says about the squad, I think there's a very valid reason why players like Bade didn't get a look in, and that's coz there was just too much to manage.

Ok, but, counter-argument, if 30+ players were too many, then maybe Cooper shouldn't have been bitching "we need more players in," at every opportunity and to everyone that would listen.

Maybe just maybe, Cooper dropped a clanger with this lad.

A manager can't spot a Messi in a squad because there are 25 players in it, just like any other Premier league team?

Not saying for a minute Bade was that good but surely he should have been given at least some minutes to prove himself in a competitive match when the rest weren't exactly pulling up any trees.

This year apparently Cooper didn't know Santos had signed until he turned up at practice one day.

Result, 12 minutes in the premier league, coincidence?

This is only a newspaper report. Its probably nonsense anyway. Like Liverpool being in for Sangare for example. Which seems absurd at this point.

Exactly, it’s become a bit of a myth this.

Cooper was saying we need more players in every press conference when we had signed loads already. He can’t say those things then claim the squad was too big.
