#NFFC fans, is Kelvin Wilson any good? We signed Danny Collins from you and he was diabolical. Is Wilson any better? #rufc #nffc

He really, he really is good ! :congored:

Only issue with Wilson is with his injuries. Otherwise , wilson is a decent defender , maybe prone to lapses of concentration once in a while but more than capable defender at this level. Good luck to him , he and Camp will know each other pretty well.

Makes that part of his game twice as hard when you have 20,000 people ready to jump down your throat for a misplaced pass.

He's a very good defender and will most likely do well at Rotherham.

I used to reckon Wilson was a player of value at Forest. Probably his first period but that ended badly and nothing changed after that.

But he came back and absorbed a wage not worthy of his contribution. He was poor in performance and statistics backed it up.

For squad dynamics - he was a poor example in attitude. When you consider his little performances at the local bars - how does he expect to keep his body in shape to stay injury free ? That isn't someone who wants to be part of success at Forest because he never gave himself the best chance to do so. At his age , mistakes became too frequent.

Thank goodness it is another chapter closed in the last 15 years of many similar failures. I suppose as they say - never go back.

It becomes a vicious cycle.

Especially if you're low on confidence or had serious injury problems, so are perhaps a little more hesitant than you might have been previously.

Unfortunately in a defensive position a slight hesitation is all it takes to cost your team a goal and suddenly you become a liability.

Wilson's problem was he clearly didn't give a shit. Him and Morgan together formed a great partnership in the season we finished 3rd. Morgan the rock and Wilson the guy who would cover him and bring the ball out from the back. If Wilson had the same attitude as Morgan has then who knows, he might have been plying his trade in the upper echelons of the PL too. Instead, his Billy Big Bollocks attitude sees him playing for Rotherham.

Was delighted we brought him back, was distraught the way he treated the club in his 2nd spell. Glad he's gone and like the other shits who've bled the club dry, he's been f**ked off. Good riddance.

Was so chuffed when we signed him.
The first 5 or 6 games he played alongside Hobbs he looked imperious. Then he did his back in was out for several months and was never the same. He's a crock who got £20k a week for doing very little. Nice work if you can get it but so glad we didn't renew his contract.

Agreed.......but.........how much of that had to do with the club?

Reid, Wilson, Hobbs, Paterson etc. - a lot of players who are labeled as "bad eggs" or "don't give a shit". Maybe they just looked at the fact we top half positions several years on the bounce and thought "what's the f***ing point?"

Not so sure you can call anyone a crook for having the common sense to see the top brass undermine player efforts every season.

Nah he wasn't the same player after his back went. Nothing to do with bad management - the injury has changed him attitude or not.

Good signing for Rovrum but he'd become quite leaky for us.

As has been said, he was never the same after the injury.

Still think he's a good signing for Rotherham

Wilson is a good player, The problem is when he gets pissed off/up and likes to take a few weeks off, I have no doubt he will start the first few matches well ,
Then go on a bender and pick up a back injury. No doubt he will have Christmas off as well, You won't get a full season out of him because he can't be arsed.
Glad he has gone.

I too was thrilled when he came back, I think, for the Blackburn away game when Hendo scored in the last minute. But after the injury, which didn't look bad at the time, he never seemed the same; still displayed the same skills, but just missing that vital something which made you feel as if he was in control.

Posters are very kind putting up references for items from newspapers, but they cause no end of problems on my computer. I know here in the back of beyond we get a poor signal or whatever it's called, but the pages of the papers stick , jump and eventually just give up.

He basically just said it was a shock going from Celtic / Forest to a club like Rotherham:

"No disrespect to Rotherham because it's a good club but when you've played for big clubs like Celtic and Nottingham Forest, it was a bit of a culture shock, although I wish them the best of luck in trying to get back to the Championship."

I think his "culture shock" in Rotherham was realising there isn't any.

AKA "There was nowhere to hide at Rotherham like there was at Forest, we came last in the league by some margin and I was part of that. Now I'm blaming some irrelevant thing to see if I can keep doing the minimum whilst drawing a salary from some unfortunate club."

It's a sad indictment of Scottish football that Kelv has played for a club that were relegated to the third division by a massive margin, yet thinks himself suitably qualified to issue a 'come and get me' statement to Neil Lennon and Hibs.

Edit: It's also a sad indictment of Kelvin's ego that he's not big enough to realise that he may have been part of the reason for Rotherham's relegation. They've not exactly fallen over themselves to offer him a new contract.

And just one more thing, can we get this moved to the Football Banter? Or, as Kelvin is no longer in possession of a contract to be a professional footballer, Down the Pub?

You're right of course but I'd say the Play Offs thread is a more egregious example of a thread that has no business being in the Forest Banter section
