This is a bit harsh, but I do agree there are some rose tinted glasses about both our keepers last year.He does possess skills that Vlach and Turner are missing ... palming the ball into danger areas and the inability to stop shots heading straight for him.
Get him in so I can complete my goalkeeper foul ups bingo card.
You could tell Navas was class the first time he saved a shot against Leeds and was back on his feet about 0.0000001 of and second later! At 56 as well. Guy must have been immense in his prime when not rusty. This is a bit harsh, but I do agree there are some rose tinted glasses about both our keepers last year.

This was the thing people forgot with Navas, he was a top keeper in his prime, probably the best in the world, so he spent years at Real and then PSV.Or perhaps people think our keepers are going to be flawless when even Ederson and Allison have made plenty of mistakes yet they don't have to face half of what our keepers do.
Yeah, like Turner's odd error against Liverpool. So there was the odd error like palming saves to opponents...

The issue is that both the keepers we have aren't really good enough. Vlachodimos won't come for crosses and that he doesn't puts the defence under pressure and ultimately leads to us conceding goals as our mentality is to defend anyway and we aren't yet good enough to sustained attack teams unless they just camp the box and let us. That was easily seen on Saturday when Everton pumped balls in all day and eventually one was sufficiently high to evade all the defenders and fall to someone to get a shot in. Turner's kicking in itself isn't that bad when he gets the time to process it, so really it's something which is erratic under pressure, probably because he has less time to make the decision of what to do. That's potentially something which will get better as he plays more in the PL but potentially also not. Aside from the mistake for Liverpool's 3rd and a couple of occasions where it could have led to pens this hasn't cost us though. But it's clear neither of them are the long term answer.Navas was either great or shite, no middle ground. He made plenty of mistakes himself.
Don't think he's the answer to our problems anyway given our problems aren't really in net. Only central midfield needs less fixing in the transfer window than in net. Priority has to be striker, 2x winger, left back as a right sided centre half if Felipe gets injured again.
So, not really linked then?Linked to us again.... Not posting the link as it isn't reliable.
Well he's bound to be linked as he'sSo, not really linked then?
Same - it would help us find someone whilst we dont have at least a total liability in goal.I'd take him as long as we're committed to splashing out in the Summer on a younger, top quality keeper.
Arguably not, it was "football insider" who posted it. Either way is at least a talking point and something we could look into again. So, not really linked then?
There is an element of that and I know you accuse me of being to harsh but Navas is infinitely better than Turner. Every keeper makes mistakes but Turner is rubbish or average at nearly every aspect of goalkeeping. His throwing out is the only thing he excels at. Navas has made mistakes but he has also won points on his own for us where Turner has not.Or is it a case of people just having ridiculous expectations of goalkeepers that none are ever good enough?
Look around the Prem every week & there is mistakes left right and centre even from the very best. The World GK of the year came to Forest a few weeks ago and palmed it in his net twice.
Come on guys, there is a transfer thread and a Keylor Navas threadNottingham Forest have opened talks to re-sign Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Keylor Navas, sources have told Football Insider.
Would be great if it comes off.
