I would still quite like us to sign defour, Jedinak and Sako on cheeky one year deals to help the squad. The bomb squad we got rid of is great and if we can secure these on one year contracts I think it would shrewd business.

With Appiah going I'd say Sako isn't a bad shout, provided his wage demands aren't mental.

Big fan of Sako some time ago, but not now. When your stock goes down, you have to work very hard to get it back up and he's dropped down the pecking order for me.

All things considered, I think we've done well this transfer window, always assuming this crazy system has finally ended for now, until January.

It would be daft to stop importing players just because we have a bunch of bananas slowly going mouldy. You look at the figures in the bank, work out what you can afford and go for it, hoping that some of the bananas are plucked before too long.

The windows been a good one......if the manager gets the time needed to develop such players which obviously need developing a bit (like Semedo)

Again, it's all about club strategy. If Mouch gets hoofed before Jan for anything other than relegation fighting, the people up top are fuckwits, because it's them who bought in a load of players like Semedo, Jenks, Silva, Muric, Bostock etc who need time to get up to speed.

We sold, loaned out or released 25 players this window.

It says a lot that we still have a bloated squad! Hopefully this season is the end of the high turnover madness.

Here here.

A handful of quality additions each window is far better than constantly cycling crap.

Hopefully a few more out in Jan, and those couple of key additions we need to round off the squad.

I agree, but we need to assemble a top six squad first of all.

The high turnover is needed until we have good enough players. Recruitment is always a hit and miss business.

Think we've gone overboard in past windows though Rav. Esp in midfield.

Squad looks to be nicely balanced now, just needing that extra bit of quality up front. Hopefully that's the next step for us & one of the reasons we've sold Appy-lad.

Cant see nowhere near a promotion team at present for the life of me. Hope it turns out to be bad judgement.

For me....

Lolley, Carva, Grabban, Daws, Adomah - 5 genuine top 6 players

Worrall, Cash, Sow, Watson - 4 players who can easily be in a top 6 side on their day. Not seen enough of Sow to say he could/couldn't be higher.

Rest are mid-table or worse. Plenty in there who can make vital contributions like Ameobi & Semedo, but over a 46 game run you're gonna get as much bad as good IMO.

But Mouch I have down as a top bloke, who might be able to make them more than the sum of theor parts :)

Too early to say whether some of the newbies are up to it after a handful of games, but there is the nucleus of a good team from last season.

Let's be honest, Derby regularly get into the playoffs with an average team.

A good manager, luck, no self mutilation and alright players often has you up there. We weren't far last year and our manager left us up shit creek and the new bloke was the cheese to the previous chalk.

We'll challenge this year, whether we make it remains to be seen. Just hope we don't self mutilate again as each managerial change sets us back 2-3 years.

Not sure that I totally agree.
Our very best line up, with all players fit for me would be
Samba - looks good; looks Top 6 player;
Cash - looks decent but a fast winger will either make his reputation or ruin it - 7-10 player
Dawson - looks good but can be exposed by pace, but compensation is experience and ability; Top 6 player.
Worrall - Looks good but can be exposed by pace, but he has talent and on his day, alongside Dawson looks to me... - Top 6 player
Robinson - as a left back he blows hot and cold, and is a penalty conceded in waiting each game; 7-10 player.
Bostock - looks to be an excellent signing and I believe strongly that he is... Top 6 player.
Sow - looks to be an excellent signing and I believe strongly that he is... Top 6 player.
Lolley - on his day is a match winner, just need to have his day more frequently; Top 6 player.
Carvalho - on his day is a match winner, just need to have his day more frequently; Top 6 player.
Adomah - on his day is a match winner, just need to have his day more frequently; Top 6 player.
Grabban - well, everyone knows I don't particularly like him, but his record outguns my blind prejudice (which ISN'T racial); Top 6 player
Subs:
Mir/Smith - both are too young and both have shown inexperience to our cost; 7-10 players both
Jenkinson - injured (again) - is he a new biscuit? I haven't seen enough yet to be able to say he is anything but... 7-10 player.
Figuerido/Benalouane - can't say either are top 6; 7-10 players both
Robeiro - haven't seen enough but doesn't look a top 6 man yet; 7-10 player.
Watson - exposed by pace, but when he is given plenty of time he looks decent enough; 7-10 player
Semedo/Ameobi - both have flashes of brilliance and both have looked out of place at times; 7 - 10 players both.
Silva - settling in at the moment, but has the makings of a really good player at this level, so I will class him as a tentative Top 6 player.
Johnson - bags of potential but not seen enough of him to really comment, but for this season I'd say he has potential to be a top 6 player, but will rank him as a 7 - 10 player.
Mir - from what I seem he has the potential to be dead wood but with a goal or 2 under his belt he may well be transformed (Wolves fans classed him as dead wood!); 7 - 10 player
Of course, all players are likely to be unavailable at times - suspensions and injuries.
It is when our key players are unavailable we look more 7-10 than top 6.
However, the big factor in all this is Sabri Lamouchie.
I think he will be the differentiator this season that leads to us achieving top 6.
Let's hope I am right!
