Juan Raphael Fuentes....

What I find more curious, is why this guy hasn't been playing with the U23s

It's a good point, particularly if fitness was the main reason for him not getting a game so far.

Don’t know how bad his injury is but I hope the club offer our facilities for him to recover at the very least.

Gotta feel for the guy, he looked decent too.

Poor lad. Finally gets a chance to impress and that happens.

Wow, seems a bit harsh that the guy finally gets a chance and gets injured (I didn't follow the match, only the score tonight, and thought that subbing him for lil benny might have been planned considering how little football he has played).

Hopefully not another CC/DP, let's hope the club stands by him... saying that we've usually done the right thing with injured players.

Looked like they put the splints on him, more likely a leg break than a knee, which would be better for the guy. Was looking ok as well. Absolutely mental some of the injuries we get.

Quite understandably, given it was his first competitive game for a long time, the lad looked slightly tentative in the early stages, mainly looking to play safe passes inside. By the time the Barnsley player completely cleaned him out, he really seemed to be getting into his stride. Although he had to be taken to the QMC, I hope his injury isn't too serious.

Poor guy. Looked to be getting into his stride after a cautious start. I blame Watson for the whole incident, he underhit a simple pass out wide that gave Fuentes a literal hospital pass.

It is tragic that so many honest players get taken out like this when all the diving and faking shits seem to escape injury.

Get fit and well soon Juan Raphael.

That's true but the tackle deserved at least a yellow if not a red card.

I would like to see the video to confirm my view from pitch-side, but from where I was sat it looked like a good tackle in a 50:50 situation.
My view at the time was that it was a fair challenge.
The outcome for Fuentes was horrible, but that doesn't mean the defender should be carded.
Too many refs blow up for fouls whenever there is a robust challenge.
It is football, not netball, and there will always be physically demanding and risky situations.
However, as I stated at the start of this post, I would like to see the video just to confirm my view.

From my angle the Barnsley lad lost his footing and didn't mean to go into the tackle like he did.

We have the worst luck with knee injuries. Absolutely mental.

If it's as bad as we think, hopefully 4 months recovery time is a good approximation and he can return for the beginning of next season.

Wishing Juan Raphael a speedy and successful recovery.

Happened right in front of me, it was exactly that - he was coming in fast a slipped at the last minute and took Fuentes with him.

I know all clubs have injury problems but honestly, how unlucky are we. Poor lad's been waiting to show what he could do and first game back breaks his leg!

How long was the contract that he signed? I thought he was one of those that signed until the end of the season?

Contracted until the summer with an option for another year IIRC

I think you're right. End of season.

That's clearly why Karanka was so gutted, because he wanted to give him a chance til the end of the season to have a good look at him.

Looked like a horrific scything challenge from my seat.

It was a bad tackle but it wasn't intentional. Felt a bit sorry for both of them, Fuentes for the injury and the Barnsley lad for getting booed for the rest of the game when he looked upset at what he'd accidentally done to Fuentes.
