bowler at least provides some creavity of which we looked a bit lacking in preseason. We can't be depending solely on mgw.

Good to loan him out, but I don't really see what the point in signing him was in the first place.

Johnson replacement in the case of immediate relegation.

No need to be panicking trying to find a replacement with weeks to go before season starts (see this transfer window for reasons why) with other clubs knowing you've got a large transfer kitty because you just sold your star boy for £40m+

Think the point was cooper thought he'd get us promoted if we went down and/or had top level potential. Loan to Oly went south when corberan was sacked.

I understand that, but it felt like a signing too far at the time and it's only looking worse with hindsight. No big deal, just a bit futile feeling.

I think Corberan would have used him had he lasted more than five minutes - at the time it suited both clubs, three games(?) later not so much.

It was a forward-looking signing by Dane Murphy at the time in my opinion.

He was one of the best wide players in the Championship with a lot of potential. In hindsight, the loan to Olympiacos was obviously a mistake and he probably should have remained on loan in England with Blackpool or another Championship club.

If anything it was the opposite.

It was a panicky signing for me. It's like he became available and we felt like we had to get him so nobody else does. And then when we did we had no idea what to do with him so packed him off to Greece.

I'm sure he got a few extra quid for it but we messed with this lad's career and life really by signing him just in case we go down again.

I assume that's why we're only letting him go on loan now too, because we Might go down and then we'll need him...great confidence-booster that. I'm sure he'd be really motivated to perform for us 😆

I’m presuming we didn’t hold a gun to his head and he actually wanted a big money move?
He probably did but perhaps not under the pretext that we were going to kill a year of his career and use him only as a back up plan if we go down.

It's far more simple I think: he was a long term cooper target who became available - since he was known to Corberan we went for it in the hope that both CL and top flight football could move him to the next level. It didn't work out for anyone involved.

On a vaguely related not I'm not sure the prem squad rule is doing anyone any favours here - if we didn't have the limit of 25 I'm pretty sure Bowler would be used as a BJ backup this year.

I get that the big six were hoovering talent, but for those outside that it becomes cumbersome I think?

As usual, every part of that is nonsense. It's also laughable how you've suddenly become concerned for a player's welfare because it suits your earlier lazy, throwaway comment.

It is the right move - from what I have seen of him he is not good enough for us at the moment - would have prefered him to go to a better club as Cardiff are broke and will just be trying to avoid relegation - but prehaps Cardiff are the only club that wanted him
