Wonder if Nixon has this wrong and we’re going for Bowler in addition to MGW. Whilst Bowler could work as an alternative, we are clearly after someone to play wide and this lad fits the bill.

Yes...gerrim in, as mentioned, leaves more potential funds available in the kitty for a possible striker too, he's good and has bags of potential, fits our age requirement and would suit our style, for me he's potential a better idea than MGW

I think this would make more sense than mgw.
He would be more happy to play second fiddle to lingard wheras I think mgw would expect top billing and to try and get both him and lingard in the same team I think would change Cooper’s preferred style of play too much.
also after a year playing a bit part in the prem behind lingard I think he would improve massively
This.

Sorry- could have just liked it but it's worth repeating.

Why wouldn't you play MGW CM if Lingard was fit?

I know he’s played there but I thought his preferred position and where he is more effective was further forward.
also i think the budget is being stretched as it is, we have good cm options now I feel we need attacking options which bowler ticks across all positions

In my opinion MGW is better than the current CMs and provides cover for the one position we don't have anybody else for which is the no. 10. We'd also have a starter that can take set pieces. Furthermore, with 5 subs, I can see the 2 CMs being changed during most games which is great for us as energy is our greatest chance of doing well this year and fresh legs in the midfield without affecting the traditional 3 subs is music to my ears.

Bowler is a quality winger and a useful bench option that can cause havoc if we're chasing a game in the last 10 minutes. Whether he could play the no.10 role or whether Coops will change to wingers during the game/season remains to be seen however limiting him to a bit part. I'd definitely welcome him though.

I’d love mgw I just think with who we currently have in the squad and how much it’s cost us to build it I don’t think he’s an option anymore.
As soon as his price started heading over 25mill I think the club almost instantly discounted him and brought In lingard, mangala and O’Brien. I think the fans are the ones driving the few twitter links and we lost interest a while back.
no idea though! I’ve been impressed with a lot this close season and we were told that we would have another signing that would shock us… or something like that!

Plays well in the Championship, but we've seen with Toffolo, the step up is huge and I'm not convinced Bowler is the man.
O'brein, Worrall, mckenna etc etc. Every player is different, I think bowler is a tricky player who could well make the step, bowen has done great at West ham. Who knows but he's a decent option I reckon

I agree-a young, hungry player who is on the way up and likely to improve.
Could well be worth a punt at the right price.

Blackburn rumoured to be putting a 3mill bid in. I’d be annoyed if he went there for that and we didn’t even try for him!
Agreed, I like him and think if we can get him for not much more he'd be a good signing. Could turn out to be an Aaron Davis or a Jerrod Bowen, worth a punt though!

Perhaps its a case of using Blackburn to agree a price because if we go in they'll start at £10m but they can't really demand a massive amount more once they've agreed a price.

I'm fully behind getting this chap in though.
