It's a pity Worrall and Yates were loaned out early in their careers; one-club players have become a rarity in today's football, and I think they would both be good candidates for that specific category.
Both him, and Ryan, have often said, they're not the greatest footballers. As you say, they make up for that in the fact they would quite literally run through walls for the club.Joe Worrall represents everything we love about our club.
He’s a home grown leader who gives everything selflessly. His love of Nottingham Forest has never been in doubt and he’s well respected from everyone top to bottom.
He may not win games, in the goal scoring sense, but he will keep us ahead by putting himself between the ball and our goal. He’s the kind of defender every keeper wants and needs.
He’s a top top top bloke and, when he decides his playing career is over, he will always be closely associated with Forest as a legend.

Nope. They're both one club men. A couple of loans to feeder clubs like Dagenham & Redbridge, Notts County and Rangers won't change that. It's a pity Worrall and Yates were loaned out early in their careers; one-club players have become a rarity in today's football, and I think they would both be good candidates for that specific category.
They do that at Derby, too.they would quite literally run through walls for the club.
I'd love to hear a Worrall podcast when he's finished his playing career. You know it would be warts n allBoth him, and Ryan, have often said, they're not the greatest footballers. As you say, they make up for that in the fact they would quite literally run through walls for the club.
He said as a young player, in fact, I think it may have been the Wolves interview where he called out the senior players, that his biggest ambition was to get Forest promoted to the Premier League and keep them there.
Hes done that, and is living his dream. It helps that his best mate plays in front of him, and, that they both have very similar mentalities when it comes to the game. I think last season was an eye opener for him, both in playing style, and how every move you make on the pitch is watched. This season, he seems to have adapted to the changes that he experienced last season, and, as such, is a far better footballer for it.
He'll never be a world beater, but, he'll go down in Forest folklore, along with Cooper and Yates, as being integral parts of getting the club back to where we feel we belong.
I think that description, which gets rolled out fairly frequently, does them a little bit of a disservice, as both have improved the technical side of their games massively over their time with the first team. Both him, and Ryan, have often said, they're not the greatest footballers. As you say, they make up for that in the fact they would quite literally run through walls for the club.
Next TIFO please FG.
That's my new desktop background sorted!
Not quite the same but Worrall did an extensive interview with Chippers which would have been not long after Coops took charge:I'd love to hear a Worrall podcast when he's finished his playing career. You know it would be warts n all
We were still a Champ club when he recorded that interview and he is candid about potentially having to leave to fulfill his dream of playing Premier League football. I'm so happy he was able to do it with us.Not quite the same but Worrall did an extensive interview with Chippers which would have been not long after Coops took charge:
I think it was a combination of the amount of work he'd done, and the mental effort of the last 10 days. As much as he'd say otherwise, that has an effect on anyoneJoe looked shattered at the end of the game........he'd gone over a couple of times to our bench to get those gels that you see cyclists in the Tour de France getting.....it was a warm day too...
I thought that was a blatant handball too...think replay showed it hit boly and was nowhere near Worrall! Shows how different you see things when you're stressed as hell!!Had a great game Saturday.
But my god he gave me a heart attack near the end. He went to block a shot and got his body/arm in a very unnatural position and from my seat in line with him on the touchline it looked like a blatant handball. Was fully expecting VAR to overturn it and award a penalty!
Agree, even if you think Joe won't adapt to this level you would be an idiot to disregard what he does for this club as a leader.Think his new contract should be a piece of business we do very soon.
Yeah, both he and also Yatesy are integral parts of the culture the club are growing.Agree, even if you think Joe won't adapt to this level you would be an idiot to disregard what he does for this club as a leader.
I wonder if they delayed announcing it to not have the transfer window overshadow it and now delaying it until Worrall is in the right frame of mind for some publicity off the back of it?Darren Fletcher on the GR podcast said his new contract was done, and he's a friend of Worrall's (or at least says he is).
You write Joe off, and for that matter Ryan Yates, at your perilAgree, even if you think Joe won't adapt to this level you would be an idiot to disregard what he does for this club as a leader.
