John Guidetti from Manchester City?

Steve Coppell said a couple of years ago that the loan system should be scrapped to help develop young players. The amount of good young players hoarded by the big clubs and loaned out season on season is getting ridiculous now. It is hard to blame the young player who sees the big name clubs and the wages they offer and head there rather than stay and play at their club or move up to a slightly bigger club to progress their career.

Big clubs should not be able to collect all the best young players with no intention of playing them initially if ever.

Players should not be signing for clubs they know they won't initially, if ever get a game for.

Clubs should not be able to cash in on their best players, get the money and keep the players on loan (Forest should be allowed to sell Darlow and Lascelles to pay for Assombalonga and then have all three for the season)

It is a farce. It is what happens when clubs run football.

Wish someone would sign this guy on a proper contract so we don't get this same discussion every transfer window. Lets bear in mind he's never been linked.

I don't think anyone buying him wud stop that. Ie billy sharp. Twitter went into meltdown because he scored a goal at the weekend. Laughable.

Trouble is their agent will get a bag load of cash if he sells his player to a top club 1. from the initial move and 2 when ultimately he moves on again having not made it at said big club. The agent will be in the ear of the young player telling him what an amazing opportunity this would be and these chances dont come along very often etc... etc...
Its the agents IMO that are ruining the careers of some of these younger players just so that they can line the already silver lined pockets

Stop the loans. At least stop season long long loans. If a club is happy to send one of their players away for a whole season he is not really one of their playing staff. If he is a young player who has come through the youth system at the club he won't have just signed, if he is a young who has just signed then he should have stayed at the club where he was making progress. If he is older he is wasting his time being registered there.

Also, stop players going out on loan within at least the first season of igning for a new club. A player should never being allowed to sign for one club and agree to play the whole season at another.

When you have the situation of players like Thibaut Courtois, it turns the whole of club football into a joke. Supposedly one of the best keepers in the world has played the last three season at Atletico, even winning La Liga and going to the European Cup Final. Yet Chelsea have held his registration in all that time because they can afford to do that. I bet I've been to Fulham Broadway more times than he has.

What you suggest requires a limit on the age that players are able to be transfered. I'm guessing this controvenes European working laws?

f*** em they made their bed they can lie in it.

Why? We sold them so we could fund transfers to improve the team.

If Lascelles isn't in Newcastles squad next year he will probably have a premier legue loan. Darlow im not so sure... Krul is a decent keeper.

Not he same level as Man City, it may take them a season or 2 but they will stand a chance at least of making the step up.

They are also further down he developemtn line than Guidetti was when Man City signed him at 16/17. Guidetti is only 22, he's spent the last few years training with some of the best players in the world and making a decent wage. I doubt he would say he's wasted his time or career.

Not necessarily. If uefa banned loans except maybe genuine emergency keeper loans it would probably have the desired effect. As much as Chelsea or city or united would still be free to stockpile youngsters and could probably still afford it to an extent but they would also be left with them on the wage bill whereas now they often get the smaller club to pay all or some of the wages. There is also the player. It is all good and well signing for a big club but knowing you will still get list of football on loan at big championship clubs or other lower prem clubs. It is another matter if that player knows he will just be sat playing in an under 21 league when he has been used to playing in front of 25k each week at his own club.

Wasn't he on loan at Stoke last season? If I remember correctly he was woeful anyway. I wish we just delete this thread and let that be the end of it. He will never come and in all honesty wont be good enough. He's an overhyped player

I agree he will never come but I think he probably is good enough. 20 goals in 23 games for Feyenoord and 7 in 12 at U21 level for Sweden suggests he is a player.

Having said that he is valued at £6m by city and is probably going to sign for Southampton to replace Lambert so it is still a daft thread.

We will not be signing Guidetti, Sinclair or Richards.

Just a little one: expecting John Guidetti to leave #MCFC in next few days. Feyenoord, Ajax and Celtic all asked about him this summer

Slap a big fat NO on this one once and for all
