I remember him being quite highly rated a while ago, but the hype around him seemed to have died down a bit.
Not sure how he has been getting on recently, but if the club want him regardless of what league we are in next season then I am sure Murphy and co have done their homework and feel that he'll be a good addition.
They turned down £3m in January apparently, even though he had 6 months left on his deal.
Some Blackburn fans on Twitter don't seem bothered, said he fails to live up to his potential etc.
Not that that matters as Cooper is good at getting the best out of "bad" players.

Indeed, always hard to tell the truth with what opposition fans think, half our fans hated Yates and now they love him.If he has potential that he has "failed to live up to" at Blackburn, you can be sure that Cooper will get it out of him.

Could have just stopped after the first sentenceAlso a case of he's not ours anymore so we can slag him off.
Derby fans were like that with Ebosele, as soon as he signed a pre-contract with Udinese he was crap.
Blackburn fans were desperate for him to stay in January.
But like said, fans opinions really are pointless to listen too.
13th placed Stoke fans still say Play off bound Sam Surridge is wankAlso a case of he's not ours anymore so we can slag him off.

Right,
#10 position there's plenty of options: Swift, Wallace, Powell (Nick) are all available. Maybe even Morgan Gibbs-White if he's available for a good price.
Central midfield I'd like to see us go for Joe Rothwell. There's also Josh Laurent who we were linked with earlier in the season also and our old friend Ben Osborn both available too.
Wing backs: James Bree and Lee Buchanan probably the only worthwhile ones chasing.
Up front: If we want pace/trickery to flank Davis/Surridge and replace Johnson then maybe David Brooks oould be tempted? Josh Bowler next option.
So, without spending a single penny on transfer fees, the template could change to:
Samba
Worrall Cook McKenna
Laryea Yates Rothwell Buchanan
Wallace Swift
Surrdige
Which if we're still in this league next year, would be quite the side.
Looks like carrying the ball forward is one of his strengths
Great feet, 10 assists last season, good age and on a free in a position we need plenty of cover, not much to dislike.
