Basically they're victimising a guy who was unemployed for taking a job that fitted him the best out of the two options we know about him having all for clicks and ratings.
That's what they do.

Water off a duck's back here. Let them carry on.

The way pre-season is going we'll likely start poorly and they'll carry on having digs too. Again, bring it on. Once Murph, Coops, the players and the club have adapted to this level we'll ride all that bulshit to the top.

Genuinely don’t understand why everyone is so irate about us signing a player, if the Hammers really wanted him, they would have made more effort.

I’m mildly amused by Talksport, everyday I log on to Twitter and yet another ex-footballer is moaning. Where do they find these idiots?
It’s just what they do, it’s the talkSport format and as it has some success others will copy it. They basically set people up on air with opposing views and tell them to go for it! It’s almost like debate team thing they have in the US at schools and colleges, or even in certain realms of education like law where they might set people up in exercise to oppose one another. So anyway, It gets listeners and people ringing in to argue their case. sometimes, maybe just sometimes, the presenter really is voicing their own opinion but most of the time I don’t believe it…as entertaining as it might be!

wind up, let ‘em go!!!

History repeating itself. 1977/78 promotion. Biggest tw@t on the TV as far as Forest were concerned.

“What if he’s gone to Nottingham Forest because last season Nottingham Forest beat two Premier League clubs in the FA Cup, just about lost to Liverpool.

“They were on fire last season playing some amazing stuff to get promoted as well."

“He’s going for the project as well as I feel that Forest will be a top team next season and they will shock a lot of teams.

“You’ve seen Sheffield United do it, you’ve seen Leeds do it. I think Nottingham Forest next season, with the players, they’ve got, are all going to be hungry to succeed in the Premier League."

“The City Ground will be a fortress as well.”

According to The Athletic, Lingard was convinced to join Forest in a seafood restaurant in Piraeus. A traditional EM business meeting.
This is when we find he has a tiktok bakery

I was actually quite annoyed about the commentary on Lingard but I realized that's just another symptom of not being in the EPL for 23 years.
We missed the bit where this happens and it happens to us and our players now. Its a sign that we're doing the right things.
Look at all the drama with United players the last few years. Everyone has an opinion. Look at the Maguire pile-on. If anything that's way worse than what's been said about Lingard.
The worst we've had to deal with is Huddersfield fans and their petition to the government to replay the playoffs haha.

Do TalkSport release a video every hour now on Lingard? Even the big boys don't get this much coverage.
They need someone to focus on as a fall guy.

Typical British media behaviour. They enjoy the fail stories. They want Lingard to fail because of his social media routine and clothes line.

They want him to be like Ravel Morrison, Freddy Adu, Macheda, or Bojan. So it gives them another 'Footballers who never reached their full potential' story. 'And here are the reasons why....'

It's especially interesting for them that a newly promoted club has supposedly outbid an established Premier League club in wages to get his signature.

I hope he proves them and all his other doubters wrong.

Talksport also continually disrespect Dereck Chisora, and that disrespect especially comes from Simon Jordan, who bleaches his hair blonde at the age of 54.

'He's a great loser'. 'He'll never be world class'. 'He always comes up short'. Jordan tells us.

Chisora's last fight was against Pulev. Who Chisora beat. Only Joshua and Wladimir Klitschko have beaten Pulev before Chisora. They really need to show respect to sportsmen/women. Easy from the outside to talk shite, and that's why I do respect Chisora who has gone in there and done it!

There is one thing worse than being talked about.

Not being talked about.

If that's the place I think (Jimmy and the fish?) then he must have been convinced in like fifteen minutes, if not less, and signed the contract on a napkin.

If that's the ace in our sleeve to get top signings done, I'm all for it.

I suppose the other point in the eyes of the "big 6 mentality" is that Lingard has just signed for a promoted team.

He's spent all his career at a Big 6 club and aside from a few loans out has basically been in their first team picture most of it and has been capped in that period too.

I guess Man U forced the issue a bit by not ultimately renewing his contract, but that time for him is now over and he's signed for someone else - West Ham wanted him, and did well last season, but aren't really an established big PL club, but instead of choosing them he chose a club who have just gone up after over 20 years away from the top division and who have had to basically replace half the team which got them up as they didn't own them anyway. So a bit of an unknown as to how they will establish themselves in the PL too.

You can almost see it happening if we struggle a bit and then he's getting all these comments.

Unpopular opinion here but there are a lot of insecure Forest fans knocking around about the Lingard coverage. if you take Talksport there is a mixture of opinion with pundits like Cundy, Carruthers, Sinclair sticking up for him and pundits like Cole, Aladipo, O'Hara bashing him.

Its a sports radio show I can see both sides of the argument and if I am being honest if I were paid to advise Lingard and he said for example his primary goal is to get back in the England squad I would have told him to go to West Ham.

If its just money that has swayed it for Lingard than everyone should expect hell kop some stick especially in world cup year. However as I said he could want to move closer to his family well see. All that matters now is he does the business for us than all this other stuff will fade into insignificance.

There is that side as well that he has only showed consistency to top half level Premier League levels once in his career. I funnily enough dont rate him at all for a top 6 prem league player and it wound me up he played for England however for where we are he is just fine. So there is probably a bit of the media who overrate him and making out we have signed a Harry Maguire level player when in reality bottom half prem is where he is at. Anyway time will tell I think its a perfect signing for Forest because he fits the system perfectly. Lingard will be playing the same position in the same system that he did for West Ham so that could also benefit.

TalkSport have whacked out 10 articles over the weekend about Lingard, 9 of which are negative.

We're not insecure, we can accept we're paying him a lot of money and it's a risk, but risk doesn't mean guaranteed downside. There is a potential upside to this that TalkSport simply refuse to acknowledge.

Whatever. If the media want to get into a tizzy about Nottingham Forest being ambitious then let them, it shows we're doing something right, because lets face it, the alternative suggestion is for us to spend very little, meekly accept relegation and get a condescending pat on the head from the established elite. "Well done for trying" - f*** that.

Yes, it is a gamble, but a calculated one, and if it pays-off, the rewards could be massive.

In the context of a potential further £100m-plus in revenue, investing £5m in Lingard (or whatever the figure is) is actually a shrewd bet.
