I put Talksport on for the first time in years when i went for a walk at lunchtime.

Irrespective of the presenters and their opinions, the station is awful. It was telling me to buy Bostik glue, get my van hired from somewhere and then someone proceeded to tell me all the live games they had on in the deepest, most gravelly voice possible.

It's just shit so i'll go back to what i normally do - put 5 live on and not think about it again. I was quite unaware of all the whining until reading it on here anyway.

Apart from what the lad said above, he also started Carphone Warhouse.

When he sold it, he bought Palace and lost a shit load of the money he had made selling phones.

His book, Be Careful What You Wish For, is an honest account of f***ing it up at Palace. Although there's a lot of self-aggrandising drivel to get past, it is insightful and worth a read imho.

So he does have some insight into the football business.

But he's also a Cockney loudmouth so there is that.

Wasn’t CPW , those guys have some serious cash , it was something else.

Yes, that's right. Confused memory.

It was The Phone Shop, sold to One-to-One (T-mobile) for £80m.

90% of the time Jordan is bang in the money with what he says in my opinion. Obviously the Cooper assertion fell into the 10%. I think he's actually very interesting to listen to and is not afraid to deviate from the safe norm, whilst also not generally straying into the hyperbole that some of the lesser presenters do.

Wasn’t Peter Jones, of Dragons Den fame, a Carphone Warehouse founder?

Don't think so, one of them went to Uppingham School and has a gaff out this way that is very, very expensive.

Glen Johnson now piping up about Lingard’s move to us. Contradicts himself on this, says he’s moved for money but would have got more money at West Ham🤦🏻‍♂️

‘Glen Johnson thinks Jesse Lingard has only moved to Nottingham Forest because they “paid him more money” than West Ham were offering.’

“He’s gone on a one-year deal and will earn about £20,000 more a week, when instead he could have gone to West Ham on a three-year deal and been playing in Europe.

“He would have ended up making more money anyway. He knows West Ham, he knows the players, but instead he could be fighting relegation every week with Nottingham Forest, which is hard work and will frustrate him.”

Have any of these people considered that perhaps Lingard didn't want a three year deal at West Ham? He might have looked at Christian Eriksen getting a move to Man United on the back of doing well on a short term deal at Brentford, and thought he'd try something similar. Enter Forest with a mutually beneficial one year deal...

Agreed, I think he's looking at this season in isolation. If he has a great season and gets into the world cup squad he could earn a decent move on a longer term deal (or depending on how we do, get that here). If it doesn't go to plan he can go play in the MLS.

Exactly. A good season at Forest gets him on the radar of the big 6 again. A bad season, and he'll make his money elsewhere anyway.

Glen Johnson turned down an extension to his £120k a week deal at Liverpool as they "only" offered him £60k a week over 2 years to join Stoke on £100k a week instead. Both his Liverpool deal and Stoke deal were for more money than Lingard is on so I'm probably inclined to ignore him who like the other vehement critical commentators seems to also coincidentally have began his career at West Ham and LEFT them to get paid more somewhere else.

All this Lingard business and the reaction does not make our Kris Commons furor look any better..... In fact it makes us looks like tits and I include myself in that because I put the boot in on Commons at the time like many many others. Maybe its a learning curve, I was young then though.

It’s not like he’s from Nottingham or is a Forest fan

Its fair criticism because Glen was born and grew up in London, Portsmouth, Liverpool and Stoke and was a boyhood supporter of every team he played for. As well as being a total thundercunt.

Can we make a team from the amount of average PL footballers that have commented on this from TalkSport?

In fairness, a lot of the things being said about Forest over the summer by those outside of the club (not just about Lingard) are ill-informed at best. And whatever people think about the Lingard deal, to still be going on about it nearly a week on is beating a dead horse at this point. Even if I was a West Ham fan who was unhappy at the Lingard to Forest deal, I'd be sick of hearing about it at this point.

No thats fair and no one knows exactly why hes done it. I know its not 100% the money because if that were the case than Lingard has been a numpty because he could have got more money in Saudi. So its not all about and undoubtedly Nottingham is closer to his family and thats a factor people dont think of. We also dont know what the owner has said to him because by the looks of things we are still spending and there could be a serious project here. All I am saying with my comment above in short hand is "People in glass houses shouldnt throw stones" . We are more than happy to have a go at commons for being a judas going for money. So just needs to be a tad more humility from us.

I am also sick of hearing about it from the media and seeing some Forest fans getting a victim complex. It is what it is.... I am really interested now in if we get MGW, Dennis and Cornet. If we get those 3 than you can understand the project better attracting "JLingz"

I've not really seen many fans (if any) show signs of a victim complex. I've seen plenty respond to some of the negativity towards Forest from certain media outlets, and point out things being said about Forest that are quite frankly untrue.

I'm bored of hearing about things such as the Lingard saga and lazy comparisons to Fulham from a few years ago, it's time some people changed the record and found something new to talk about or at least bring interesting opinions to the table.

"It shows that we want to be able to compete in the Premier League," Cooper said on his latest arrival. "To sign a quality player like Jesse has given everybody a boost.

“He’s been brilliant on the training ground, I think everybody has raised their game a little bit and I’m sure he’ll feature against Valencia at the weekend.

“I had a very good conversation with Jesse, he had questions for me and I had questions for him, he’s a really good guy and we’re really pleased that he’s with us.

“Jesse wants to play for Nottingham Forest, he wants to be part of this team and part of how we work and play.

“He’s been a real positive influence around everybody so far, he’s a really positive, good addition and we can’t wait to work with him.

“He knows that he’s got a lot to play for because when you play for Forest, that’s how it is.

“We don’t think too much about what other people say, we just try and do the best we can internally and believe in what we do. We silence out the noise apart from the one our supporters make."

That move is already a success. Everyone is talking about forest. So much air time cannot be bought easily.

And they are giving him reasons to prove the wrong and enjoy it more.

They are talking nonsense. They don't even try to let the guy with the beneif of doubt. Karma is a bitch

No Ash I was on about the Lingard press but I am in total agreement the stuff about how many players we got is boring, lazy and untrue. The victim complex is when we get heated about people saying Lingard has moved for money or harmed his England chances. Yes we may not agree but they are fair arguments and not below the belt we should give reasons why that may not be the case and get on with it. Not this #talkshite business or seeing posts where they are trying to say because Lingard is black that there is racism which I havent seen on here thank god. Its very heated and going over the top. However it is boring now and I am much more interested in whos coming next! Ive just seen Romano talk about WIlliam Carvlaho 😍
