Jesse Ellis Lingard

Lingard is just one of those players who doesn't appreciate his talent.
He has the ability but not the mentality to be a professional footballer.
Sunday morning pub league with no commitment would suit him.
I don’t think that is fair. If you look at him in his younger days he was light as a feather and springy.

His achilles injury has clearly affected the way he trains and plays so it has taken the edge off his game, and he’s getting older as well.

I think it's fair with the ability he had he should have been guaranteed to be in the starting 11 but never was and that is because of his attitude and application, his ability is not in doubt and he wasn't injured when he was younger so it can't be anything else. He's still exactly the same now

he would benefit from dropping down and playing regularly somewhere, but he's a clear example of the problem with massively inflated wages in young players. Going from a salary of £7.5m+ (£145k p/w) to let's say £2.5m (£50k p/w) is likely hard for him to stomach despite it still being far more than most people can imagine.
Perhaps some time on £0 will give him some perspective.

Then again, also an example of how what looks like it will be a very successful career can be ruined early by injury.

Jus gorra message off me offspring that this lad is offering his services to Barcelona.

I think Barca have some embargo going on but free agents wouldn't be covered.

Lingards agents, probably, have drummed up a story saying he's offered himself to Barca.

Will raise his profile and maybe Hull will be on the blower.

The guy is seriously talented but I think he needs structure and a huge kick up his behind to get the best out of him.

He had his best season under Mourinho at United. Scored goals for fun at Birmingham under Lee Clark and then West Ham under Moyes.

Inbetween that he's done the square root of f-all.

If you put your arm around him or leave him alone, I don't think it's the best approach. He seems to go into himself even more and get caught up in the social media superficial nonsense.

United not selling him when he wanted finished him.
He was a vanity signing for us, sort of worked in terms of the time spirit and seemed like a decent enough bloke.

Finished in a top league though.
