If getting Wallace on a free means we can spend 15-20m to get Gibbs White then I think it’s smart business.

Nothing against Wallace at all but I’d bloody love to see WBA struggle again under Mrs Doubtfire. Feels like their last roll of the dice paying the Championship high earners and they could sink into the sort of football coma Forest had been in until Cooper’s kiss of lifeApparently WBA bound. I still think this would have been good business on a free. Player who is certainly creative, can play a few positions and will want to prove himself in division above. Especially with 5 substitutions in games and we are light on numbers.
I think EM does intend to do that tbh.Agree, we can't be spending 10m+ on 10 or so players which we would be needing. Who knows, maybe EM intends to.

West Brom can offer him money and regular football. We can now offer the former but probably not the latter (if we have any ambitions of staying up), so I still think he'd choose West Brom over us for that reason.Hijack this, Coops. Would be an excellent free signing

You're probably right. Depends whether, for him, the two are equally weightedWest Brom can offer him money and regular football. We can now offer the former but probably not the latter (if we have any ambitions of staying up), so I still think he'd choose West Brom over us for that reason.
Was always going to end up at a parachute payment Championship team IMO.
Yep, if a Premier league club loses out on someone to a championship them surely it's because either they've even offered silly money they can't refuse or they don't believe in their ability to break into the team and play at a higher level. Either way I'm not sure it represents a player you want to sign. It’s whether you can sell the chance to make his mark in the premier league. He’s not gonna get guaranteed regular football but has the chance to make his mark and earn a place up there. This is probably his best chance given his age to do it.
Signed for WBA...I've said it a few times but if a PL club wanted him already they would have paid money for him. Reality is his transfer fee cost at any point in last few years would have been easily affordable so if he was deemed an important player to sign they wouldn't wait until context expiry.
The only way he plays in the PL next year is if we get promoted and he signs for us.
WBA is a likely destination because they've got parachute payments to offer big bucks and they are in a tough spot where they might throw cash at established players in this league. A bit like Mowatt last year.
Almost certainly IMO, that boat set sail in January. We wouldn't have been able to compete with parachute payment clubs wages if we had stayed down, and he isn't what we need now we've gone up.I suspect he dropped off our targets list when we got promoted.
Mowatt behind them both too.wba has done well , first john swift , now jed wallace. Next season , they should do well with dike fit as well.

Or this could all be cobblers and we were never in for him
