January 2024 Transfer Window

I did say it wouldn't go down well.

Let's hope there's a top class striker out there who is in form, fit and ready/willing to join (in the hardest position to recruit at the most difficult time!).

As predicted by many the lack of attacking players signed in the Summer is coming back to bite us on the arse.

It's no different to Haaland, Salah or Watkins.

I don't think their clubs have another Haaland, Salah or Watkins to come in and replace them.

To have Wood and Origi as back up at this point in our development is actually pretty good and not something that's bitten us on the arse.

Maybe Nino is what we need. All the focus seems to be on our attack being the weak link, which is understandable given we've lost Awoniyi - but it's missing the point slightly when our last 5 results are 2-2, 0-3, 2-0, 2-3, 2-3.

RCB, winger and striker are our priorities in January.

Another left back if getting greedy.

Anything else is overkill and just puts us back to square one of having to integrate a whole load of new players quickly.

That almost seems to be a tactic though - we seem happy to let teams cross the ball against us. Even against Villa which we consider a good defensive performance, they got loads of crosses in.

To be fair it was very well taken by Pedro. I think sometimes you have to just accept when a good goal is scored against you. Though I agree we should be trying harder to stop the cross.

We desperately need a striker to replicate what Awonyi does because our game seems to be styled around that.

We need a back up winger to provide depth.

We need a full back if Tavares is being binned.

We possibly need another midfielder to provide options.

3 out of those 4 will be a good window. The striker is an absolute priority and not getting one will be a poor window at best.

A striker is an absolute must and I think we have to be prepared for the fact we'll need to pay through the nose to bring in the right one

I wondered whether we might see a move for Bryan Gil at Spurs now he's fit again, though seems he started yesterday so either Ange is taking a closer look or he's in their plans. We were apparently strongly interested in him in the summer.

Read a couple of article suggesting we have strong interest in Hayden Hackney from Boro. No idea if there's anything in that.
Yeah that one has been doing the rounds a lot and I believe it’s very much true. I’d like to see him here as I’ve seen Hackney play quite a bit now and he runs the games at Boro and has done since he broke through. Excellent name too.

Could have as many as 4 places in the squad freed up in January with Origi, Tavares, Mckenna & Felipe probably not making the squad. Although if there is any chance Felipe will be fit I think Cooper will include him.

I think our Jan shopping list will be as follows -
1 Striker
1 Attacking midfielder
1 CB
1 LB
