I like skillful players but managers don't trust 'em and their tricky maverick go-it-alone "who do you think you are Stan Bowles/Frank Worthington/Robin Friday" type players - don't get me wrong Patto isn't any where near that league but he does fall in to the "skillful but what do you actually do" category.... is he a winger, not really, a false number 9 (oh how we chortle at such presumption) errrm no, is he a striker definitely not .... he's s bit of a curate's egg of a player.

I dare say he'd do well in a team playing high tempo, ball on the ground, quick interplay etc but is that us?? Who knows what the next season will bring, I'm excited by the prospect but I don't think it should be Jamie

I'd take Paterson and Hunt, we have to be realistic we don't dine at the top table anymore, there is no cash to splash and if we want to spend we will have to sell.

We don't need Pato, we need a better starting winger we have enough decent sub wingers as is.

Odd that, because after we signed Pato in 2013 we won 10, drew 9 and only lost 4 in the League. So a 2013 with Pato here, we hauled 39pts from 23 games to sit 5th Dec 29th 2013.

We also won 3 cup games and drew 1 out of 4.

He ended the season with 12 goals.

He's played at this level for 8 years and has finished in the top half of the table (8th) once.

Can't see it myself. Hughton likes to play with inside fowards and overlapping full backs. Next season we'll have both Mighten and Johnson available in an inside forward on the left as options and then there's also Ameobi option if need more width.

Wide left midfield is one of a handful of positions we really don't need to mess with in the summer.

Ya right Alf, I know you like players who a manager can get the best out of but Pato would tek the piss with the past soft managers we've had since BD.

Eeza prima donna in the wrong hands and there's plenty of softy managers out there to play his game with.

He's like alot of players they are living the high life and don't want anybody ruffling their comfy lifestyle. Most know they'll never acheive any honours they're just so lucky to be in lavish industry.

When he first arrived at Forest, he was a promising talent and showed many glimpses of what he could achieve in a team with a very good midfield around him. Cohen, Reid, Lansbury, etc. He even finished top scorer for us in one season.

Then there was talk of him being a cheeky young lad and not really knuckling down as much as he should so he was sent out on loan and eventually sold to Bristol City.

He'll always be a threat the way he plays floating around and dribbling between the lines, but I think he should have done better than he has in his career.

Not one season in the Premier League and he turns 30 this year. Does he really want it?

Not the type of player we want at this stage of his career.

I still chuckle at the post someone made on here that said Paterson should be in the England squad for the 2014 World Cup.

Heard a few more whispers today linking him with us & Brum again. Be interesting to see where he ends up.

For a team who's realistically gonna be looking at mid-table next year, we could do a lot worse.

I'd give him a miss Alf.

Eez not bad, bit lightweight (Pearson not wannim) and I think he'll turn our youngsters heads.
