It cannot be both him and Aouar. It's clearly one or the other, even if they are very different players. You will have to choose between long term planning (Garner), or proven quality (Aouar), midfield solidity (Garner) or attacking flare (Aouar), easy adaptability (Garner) or the promise of excitement (Aouar).

I am afraid both his club and the player decided too late, and now the Forest ship has probably sailed.

Almost seems bonkers to say due to how talented Aouar is (way above our current level), but I think if it boils down to one or the other i'd rather have Jimmy

In the short term having an exciting player like Aouar would be incredible but I think long term we benefit more from Garner who will most likely continue developing with us and be a part of our core for years

If there's a way to bring Jimmy in I'd like to see us explore it - he's all the makings of a great player further down the line, and while somewhat inconsistent (he's young) we were at our best last year when he was.

Age wise, would he fill a slot in the squad or is he still classed as an u21?

Just mentioned this in Transfer Bantz...speaks volumes of the state of affairs at United

I think we'll have known this one would be late given the new manager at Utd, so for me it will come down to how much we want him, whether we've left a slot and whether he's classed as u21.

If we can get him for 10-14m then I would sign him - with a bench of 9 subs with 5 being able to come of the bench you will need as many options
as possible in this league. We will need our whole squad to steer clear of a relegation fight and the better the whole squad the more chance we avoid a relegation fight. Jimmy would add quality to our squad.

Cooper needs to have as many options as possible - Jimmy already knows the club/coaching staff and he knows what is expected as a Forest player under Cooper and he has the talent.

There was little chance he would have been available earlier, and Forest would have anticipated him coming later on. I don't believe we've moved on to other targets in the meantime. At this point in the transfer window and at the prices mentioned I think we should do this deal, and I believe we will.

He's going to want to play as much as possible, and I don't think he'll want another Championship stint. I'm not sure which PL side could offer him the most playing opportunities.

The irony is that, imo, Man U should absolutely be playing him . But they seem allergic to actually developing a player through to PL starting level. They were disgraceful , 0-4 down and STILL couldn't bring themselves to give the kid a run. Anywhere is an improvement on that.

He feels like a Forest player, feels part of the family. Bring him home. There's still room for storylines , even at this level.

Does anyone remember this pic from the FA Youth Cup Semi-Final:

Showed Jimmy there with some of our young lads. That pic always made me think he had made a home here (I mean he was on loan, he didn't have to go to the game). The rest of the players there are first team stalwarts, Worall, Yates, McKenna and Johnson. Bring him home the team spirit he would add to will be worth more than some £20million mercenary when it's winter and the going is getting tough.

I would too, and more generally I feel much more comfortable with Jimmy even at 20+ million that MGW. We know what we are getting and we KNOW he will do it in a Forest shirt...
