Giving him his own thread, as he’s doing well on loan at Port Vale.

7 goals in 23 starts, a ball playing midfielder that can also play at left back.

Port Vale are apparently trying to make the move permanent - can’t see why we’d do that, personally.

He always had potential from his academy days , Seems to have been around for ages.
Always caught my eye think injuries have held him up.

IIRC, Jake arrived at our academy from Manchester United's. He always looked the part for our U-18s and U-23s and so it's good to see him doing well in league football. His challenge will be to see if he can make the next step-up.

Don't see why we should be in any rush to allow him to leave permanently at this stage. Seems to be excelling at League Two level, lets see how he'd get on at a club in the league above.

Starting at The Etihad against City shortly. He is from the Red side of Manchester so will have extra motivation.

I imagine if he impresses there may be more interest from other clubs.

You try to extend his deal but I understand if he didn't want to. I would then try and get a minimal fee and put a good sell-on in for him.

We have extended his contract and have an agreement in principle to loan him back to ‘vale till the end of the season according to PV manager

New Forest deal and back to the Valiants on loan. Have a chance of play-offs.

I'm excited for him. No hype with him unlike some of our other graduates.

Went out on loan, did the business and now he's back. Let's hope he's ready for the step up.

Gutted he didn’t get to finish the season out and push PV towards play off. Clearly was key to them.

His agent Phil Sproson speaking.

“The feeling at Forest is that, because of the goals Jake has scored, the manager has already said that he wants to have a look at him in pre season.

“Until the manager has had a look at him over a little period, he won’t be going anywhere.

“But the manager might say let him go out again. Forest might say let him go to the Vale. I definitely wouldn’t rule it out but I think Forest will have a look at what Vale are doing.

“But certainly Vale have looked after him really well and that has been recognised. The way they handled his car situation was exemplary. Also, Jake has a really strong rapport with John Askey, and the lads and the fans. He likes the club.”

“Lincoln did speak to me in January. There was Lincoln, Scunthorpe, Salford and there was Fleetwood who were all interested in loaning him until the end of the season.

“But it was felt he was probably better going back to the Vale because he was doing well.”

“Once Jake got into the side then he started to fulfil his promise. He has a lot more to give, he is a very gifted player. But that gave me massive satisfaction.”

The goals are good, but what stands out (from cherry picked clips) are the incisive forward balls with very little time assessing the options. Rare at any level. For those of you guys who've seen him develop, is this the exception or does he have that in his locker. If he can do it on a regular basis he might be the replacement we need for Watson. Good luck to him.

He does have a pass in his locker. Has a bit of everything. Can tackle and can score goals too.

Would play as the 6 or 8 when Johnson played 10 but you can see in the pre-season game v Oly where he played as the 10. Involved in both goals. One arriving late with a shot and re-bound finished by En-Neyah and the other one calmly slipping Swan in.

Love the the dummy on 1:15 leaving the player on his back-side and then shows he can drive past a player. 0:31 also draws the player in and creates the space to tease the ball up into the box.

The midfield competition we have is quite exciting. Johnson, McGuane, Taylor, Fornah, Back, Dekel-Daks etc

Our goal and a good chance by the Albanian international Emiliano Bullari, 19, very highly regarded, and the excellent long shot that hit the woodwork by the Serbian defensive midfielder Kristijan Belic, who is also very highly regarded and will probably get first team experience this season.

Both will train with the first team in the short summer pre-season.

Any young Greek lads thought of highly? I reckon with the quality of your facilities you should start seeing a big group of young Greek talent come though. Retsos, Tsimakis, Fortounis leading the way in recent times in your first team. PAOK and yourselves do seem the leaders of producing Greek talent at the moment ? AEK, Panathinaikos and Atromitos in the chasing pack ?

I see big clubs in France, Italy, Germany are fighting for a young Greek right-back from Panathinaikos (or is it PAOK). Only 18/19.

You're talking about Giorgos Vagiannidis, of Panathinaikos. He declined a very big contract from his team in order to chase the Italian dream (he is almost certain to sign for Inter Milan). Good player, but somewhat overrated and a bit cocky (he demanded guaranteed playing time in his negotiations with Panathinaikos).

There's plenty of talent over here, the problem is, and has always been, the gap between the U19 team and the first team. That's why it's often better to acquire a 17-year old who has playing team in one of the lower leagues than hope that your home-grown talent will flourish outside the protected environment of the academy. We just bought a 17-year old left back, who was on the brink of signing for Willem in Belgium. He played in a semi-professional league, but was a starter from the age of 16.

Many foreign clubs send scouts in our development tournaments and Italian clubs in particular lure several players each year to Italy. The bigger clubs tie down young players early on (we have 30 professional contracts in our U19 and U17 teams), but the smaller clubs cannot afford to.

PAOK seems to have the better U19 in the last couple of seasons, I think we have a good group in our U17. But there's no point in mentioning names, because I've seen too many extremely talented 17-year-olds not making it at a high level.

An example should suffice: the left back of our U19 team, Apostolos Martinis, 19, is, on paper, an extremely talented player. Lightning fast, solid in his defensive duties, very good going forward, excellent technique with the ball at his feet, good dribbler, good in passing game, fearless, good finisher. But there were spells of 5-10 minutes in a couple of games I watched him when his mind seemed to completely turn off, and during which he made one blunder after another. You may get away with that sort of inconsistency in a youth team, but not in a first team.

Years ago I had occasion to transfer airports in Glasgow from Prestwick to Abbotsinch (I was freighter steward on a 707 and, because of flight time limitations, I didn't do the Atlantic crossing) and on the taxi journey across, the Scottish driver was chatting amiably about football.

He mentioned both Rangers and Celtic, but because of an impossibly thick accent, I was unable to decipher which team he supported. So it was an awkward journey, to say the least.

Had a similar experience when I had my last cataract op. The surgeon was Greek, very nice chap who, incidentally, did a superb job on me, and whilst he was examining my eye prior to surgery, I thought I'd indulge in chit-chat. Mentioned EM, which was a mistake as the surgeon was a fan of Panathinaikos.
