Incident Involving Billy Sharp

McBurnie can give it all he wants on social media that he did nothing wrong but he has a problem because at 25 years of age he's already been done for drink driving and allegedly received a caution and fine for this....

Any sympathy I had for the Forest fan in the McBurnie incident, went out of the window the moment he sold his story to a Murdoch rag.

Yeah that was a dumb move for the legal case if nothing else, I assume the S*n offered him a few quid and the £ signs lit up in his eyes, "Fearing for his Life" after getting kicked in the leg a few times is laying it on a bit thick too!

What legal case

Sharp got £500 for being nutted, this lad would get £50. He doesn't care if McBurnie gets a suspended sentence if he can get £1000 for a story.

At the end of the day he did the smart thing for him, as McBurnie won't see jail and the lad probably doesn't care.

Smacks of the Forest fans being offered huge sums by tabloids to shop Clough after he clipped their ears.

Don't go there.

The thing is, by coming forward that way, he has basically admitted that he was somewhere he shouldn't be, so expect to see his angry little compo face in the paper again when he is denied the chance to go to Wembley due to being banned for his pitch invasion antics..

Would be just deserts for him

I think Forest would be on a sticky wicket issuing him a ban purely for the pitch invasion unless there’s evidence of bad conduct beyond that (which there might be, unjustified as it is, he must have done something to rile Brewster and McBurnie).

But with thousands on the pitch including folk more directly involved in the club like Spence’s mum etc and countless people who will already have scored Wembley tickets, it feels a bit problematic.

On a wider note, just how do you prevent a pitch invasion without putting up unscalable fences around the ground and at the same time impeding people watching the game before it finishes?.

Given what happened I feel a big part of the blame has to be with Sheff U and the authorities. Surely the police talk to the clubs before big games like this and surely it can't have been beyond their wit to see that a invasion might occur?. In which case surely the players, particularly the opposition ones (who've been winding up the fans all night) should be instructed to get off the pitch and down the tunnel at the end as quick as....

Perhaps they can incorporate the following when they redesign the City Ground? The moat could be filled with ravenous zombie Derby fans crazed by their time in League 1.

This is going to be controversial but the only solution I can see is that clubs have points deducted. I know that it is extreme but the rest of us fans would make sure idiots near us in the ground do not go on the pitch. This would only happen the once.

Picture Derby fan’s scratching about for evidence of unauthorised pitch invasions in an attempt to add yet more clubs to “ze list”

You speak for yourself mate. I doubt there's any of us in codgers corner who would step-in to do the stewards' job.

I noticed that a battalion of security from the ice stadium were there as back-up to the usual matchday stewards on Tuesday, (and a more-than-usual number of plod), but were unable to prevent the invasion from almost the exact point that Brice made his 3rd penalty save.

Exactly. So I come back to my point-how do you prevent a pitch invasion in a ground like the CG?.
I 100% disagree with the comment above about points deductions. I’m all for holding a clubs feet to the fire when they had a choice and did the wrong thing but I don’t know what else they could have done on Tuesday other than bringing guard dogs to the perimeter

Otis I’m probably an older codger than you. We just cannot do nothing.

What on earth do you mean?.

You aren't seriously suggesting that fans "control" other fans are you?. By my reckoning it would be about 3 seconds before there was a punch up somewhere and then a brawl followed by those chumps at the FA then calling for "action" on that and "blaming" the club for fans stopping other fans and causing fights.

I'm going to stop posting on this thread after this so I don't become a bore, but yet again lets hear some sensible, practical, deliverable ways you stop 30,000 people getting on the pitch rather than the harrumphing

Put up fences between the stands and the pitch and take us back to the 80s... which literally no-one wants

If you are being serious about it I'd use CCTV evidence and tell folk clearly that if you are found to be on the pitch you are banned for a year with no ST refund. You've only got to ban a couple hundred to make people think

There is another reason why that isn't going to happen, too, of course.

Unless they could design the fences to be opened easily if needed, but then, fans could use that to invade the pitch anyway. Since the old fences in question which contributed to "that" could have been opened from the pitch - but by then it was too late anyway.

There is no solution but the fans behaving - and giving out banning orders to pitch invaders.

Sorry I'm probably misreading your post, but the fences in 1989 could only be opened from the pitch side of the fence, and so if we went back there they would stop people invading the pitch?

But given what happened that would literally never happen, nor should it, so it's a moot point.
