When will we get a settled squad?
I feel estranged from my team because of the transient nature of everyone concerned with it.
Clough & Taylor brought in a small number each season, but worked mainly with a sizeable core.
They got the best out of the resources, and I felt we were a special family Club.
They didn't have ambition though.

That Stats guy said Sangare wasn't the biggest issue with the first half performance. I'd be interested to know what his stats say was the biggest one amongst all the various issues.

I don't think individually Sangare was the stand out issue but he was part of a central midfield that slowed progression to more forward areas and curtailed any attacking threat as we allowed Palace to regroup every time.

It's one of him or Yates paired with Dominguez, it potentially even neither Yates or Sangare in a game in which the opposition is already on their proverbial holidays and are willing to let us have tonnes of the ball with limited pressure.

Didn't see what all the fuss was about before he signed for us and I am certainly not impressed watching him this season. Never plays a forward pass. Slow. More suited to Serie A. It's F uckin Freuler all over again.

I am not convinced he has what it takes to make it in the Prem.

We'd be lucky to get £15 million if we sold him though I reckon. Bad signing.
See, if you're going to slag someone off, at least make it factually true.

Sangare hasn't been good but not trying to play a forward pass is most definitely not one of the accusations you can level at him.

We’ve spent some serious money relatively to be this bad.

Look at our potential midfield of £37m + £30m (Sangare and Dom). £40m + £15m (MGW and Elanga).

Either we’ve been paying £20m over the odds, or there’s something wrong with the coaching/team selection/team spirit.

Probably a little of all the above.

We shouldn’t be this bad even with a basic strategy between the recruitment team, ownership, and what the manager wants.

I think the major issue is not the quality but the quantity. Its such a shit show, we've got a squad of players out on loan, a gigantic squad back in Notts, gk's coming out of our arse, pretty much the same in every position. I don't blame the managers the players or the fans for losing faith.. This is what you get when ownership and recruitment is this bad and we deserve to go down on that basis alone..

Would Sangare be better as a lone holding mid, just in front of the back 4, and just behind our central midfielder (MGW)?
Mind you, at £35m with a reputation as a "world Great", we ought to be asking where he would like to play.
the answer would probably be "Anywhere but here".

Where did you get £30m for dominguez from? I thought it was £10m plus Freuler? and Sangare was nearer £30m. And we aren't paying the full £40m for MGW unless he plays for England. Supposedly.

We'll make our money back on MGW and he played a massive role in keeping us up last season, and who knows, maybe even this one. Elanga and Dominguez were good value IMO.

Sangare is a massive question mark at the moment, it's true.

Wages are a much bigger issue than transfer fees.

Where does this reputation come from? I've never heard it.

And £35m isn't a large sum of money in the Premier League. He'll regularly play against players worth two or even three times that much, often in the same midfield. Almost every side in the EPL has paid more than that for at least one of their midfielders.

That's not to say that he's underwhelmed. Just to try and introduce some reality.

While I agree with the sentiment its a different era now. Back then there was no transfer window so if a player got injured you could more or less try and buy or loan a replacement at any time so no need for a big squad. Also the matchday squad was only 12 and not the 20 it is now.

That said we didn't need to get so many players- 5 potential first team goalies all internationals? f***ing madness.

I preferred back then to what it is now.

The reality is that the expectation from some quarters was that he would be a main part of a mid table to top half team.

And when that didn't happen it was the manager holding them back, not that in reality we were always going to be near the bottom due to the reasons you give.

Maybe, but if there was an award for the most passes back to a full back he'd win it for sure though...

I think Sangare needs a run in the squad to attempt to get up to speed with the PL, he’s been in and out of the squad and then with AFCON he missed even more games.

He may never be good enough for this league but plenty of other players have looked awful before turning it around so fingers crossed he will too.

I wouldn’t risk him until we know we will be a PL team again next year though.

I don't think so personally.

He seems reasonably slow on the turn - players dribble past him too easily for my liking, and you exacerbate that if you don't have another CM alongside him. So you want someone with him, but that player needs to be able to get us moving faster up the pitch to exploit any left space, and Sangare just wants a bit too long for me.

I don't think MGW alongside him is the right answer as some posters are suggesting. You've still got that too easy to play through risk and it limits MGWs contribution in the final third where you want him.

So, that sort of leaves the only player that fits the criteria being Dominguez who covers both the covering the space (which Danilo doesn't do enough) and getting the ball forward faster (which Yates doesn't do enough).

Of course, the other option is you just don't play Sangare, because arguably he's our weakest CM at the moment. My personal preference is Yates and Dominguez.

I felt there was a footballer in there somewhere, but if there is one, i don't think it's anyone who is up for a relegation battle. I'd take danillo or dominguez ahead of him!
Yeah I think it's too early to write him off but I certainly wouldn't be trusting him to start at the moment. It's just too pressurised to have someone feeling their way into the Premier League.

I'd have Gibbs-White deeper next to Dominguez with Reyna ahead of them personally.
