I'm still keen, but why don't the PSV fans (apparently) want him to stay? Is it just Jonjo-esque reverse psychology?

If we're dropping £30M here then there's a distinct possibility that we're selling someone for serious money. That points towards BJ with Villa being the most realistic destination where we would achieve something remotely close to our value.

I hope I'm wrong but we're already going to be north of £20M on Hendo. Having a combined expenditure of £50M for 2 players whilst still requiring a number of other urgent positions. I just can't see how we would make it work financially for FFP otherwise
Without getting into the ins and outs isn’t FFP taken over 3 years so our view as new comers at this stage is favourable. That along side amortisation means you sign him for 25m for example over a 5 year contract and it doesn’t read too badly - everyone is up to it.

And although I don’t really want us to flirt with bans if they went after Forest already I’d expect there to be big questions about what happens to City or Everton for example?

I don't trust midfielders from the Dutch league, they always seem to disappoint in the premier league. See (eg) that Van Der Beak lad at Manure.
Completely different player though, Van Der Beek lacks physicality - he is small and slow. Those players often struggle in the Prem unless they are exceptional with the ball.

This guy is a giant and game is based on winning the ball back with his physicality.

Agreed. Looks like he has all the tools to be a good player in the Premier League IMO. Hope the club prove me wrong and manage to pull this one off, Sangare would improve our midfield considerably I reckon.

I think you're bang right.

Three years is the key here and that gives us a few windows to ship out those not required and bring in the relatively settled squad.

FFP can't be a relevant concern at all yet and probably never will, (although obviously it'll be borne in mind with every transaction).

Hi everyone, Ibrahim Sangaré joined PSV 5 years ago. In the first two years his game was sometimes still a bit rigid: especially on the ball he was often not good enough. When Roger Schmidt was trainer at PSV, Sangaré has become one of the two top players: him and Cody Gakpo were absolutely a level above the rest of our squad. With his help we should have been able to win the title several times, but unfortunately Ajax was too good in the past 5 years. Sangaré is an absolute beast: I've never seen anyone recover ball position like he can. He then often curls his legs around opponents from behind and the ball is gone. Like some kind of octopus ensnaring prey. Funnily enough, he sometimes looks a bit stiff, but often he can do much more with a ball than you think, he often knows how to dribble himself out of quite difficult situations. His only major weakness is that he wants to do too much. He not only wants to be a good 6 but also an 8 and a 10. With us he had been given too much status (in my opinion) so he wasn't told enough to just focus on being a good '6'. If he learns not to want to do too much then I am sure he will be a revelation for the PL. He is really that good for qualities of a 6.

Then to answer your question: I too was very happy to hear Nottingham Forest started bidding on Sangaré. We know he is going to leave our club this summer, so it's not a shock to us anymore. We just need the money for Sangaré to reinvest in our defense and new midfield. It's not at all that we do not appreciate Sangaré or want him gone. We just know for sure he will be gone after this window so it's way better if we could sell him now than it would be to sell him by the end of August.

Well if you go by his FM stats he's an absolute f***ing monster of a player.

Cheers mate.

Sounds like Samba Sow on acid.

I am not one for highlight reels but you can see his quality compared to what we are used too so clearly here

Looks a beast.

Only couple of minor complaints is the odd poor first touch and sometimes overplaying it.

But it's rare to find someone who's tall, athletic, strong as an ox, defensively minded and can play the ball around too. Those sorts of players don't get sold much because the big teams gobble them up when they're young and never let them go.

Reminded me a lot of Pogba on the ball with the rangy dribbling and close control - scooping the ball away from opponents went it looks for all your money like he has lost it already. Obviously different types of players positionally.

Personally, I’m getting Yaya vibes from the video above. Moves just like him, same languid running style that’s quicker than it looks.
