Monkman
Grenville Morris
He's got a pretty good range of passing, we've already seen some of that. He just needs to dial up the speed 10-20% on pretty much everything he does.
I can see it happening, to be honest. If he shows any fire towards our players the crowd will jump on him, and I don't think he'd take it very well. He's got a pretty good range of passing, we've already seen some of that. He just needs to dial up the speed 10-20% on pretty much everything he does.
He's showed enough to confirm that he's not as you describe him. I do agree with you however that he needs to step-up and do it on a much more consistent basis. So far I'd say he's overrated pap. He needs to prove he can put in a strong 90 minute performance, leave everything on the pitch (along with a few others but at least we didn't pay out record money for them). I'm underwhelmed and he needs to do alot more to influence games. Fingers crossed he comes good.
I believe it's called 'McGoldrick syndrome'.His languid style doesn't help - I thought he was poor v Everton while I spoke to a friend after the game who felt he was the only one to get involved and actually managing to break up play to some extent, and that we struggled more after his withdrawal.
In hindsight he might have been onto something, though Sangare doesn't half give impression sometimes of somebody giving half of what they have.
I think the other thing to bear in mind is the price tag, which usually gets quoted as £35m, whereas I'm sure it was 35m Euros, or around £30m. Anyway in the 2023 market that doesn't actually get you a properly elite CDM - look at what Caicedo and Rice went for. It's mid-tier PL at best - so maybe we shouldn't be expecting him to tear up the league.I agree with what people have said above, he needs to do what he does but just speed it up which will come with time - for me he has the attributes & it's also about finding a correct role for him, it took us over a year to find one for Mangala.
People will always judge him on his price tag, that is fine but I think it creates unfair bias / expectations towards him. I think he has had plenty of good games for us but not much is said because people will always expect more. I think people want him swaggering round the pitch like Viera, it's never gonna happen straight away. My general point is judge him fairly and with time, apart from the Fulham game he was getting better in every game he was playing.
Cooper said that a while ago, so he was playing more as an 8 than as a 6.Read something yesterday saying he's been playing higher as Cooper didn't want to expose him to more costly mistakes as he adjusts, I suppose like the one for Fulham's first.
Will be interesting to see Fridays lineup - in my head the new midfielders will be bed in a little at a time following the 5-0 game... where Sangare and Dominguez fit in will be interesting, if they fit in at all for that game.
Interesting that Cooper said they are playing him more advanced whilst he gets used to the premier league but sees him in the Mangala role in future
Yeah, could've beeen an old piece.Cooper said that a while ago, so he was playing more as an 8 than as a 6.
Here's a post from 1 October
Although I did hear on a podcast last week a different spin on this... basically said Cooper thinks his attributes would be better utilised as an 8 in the EPL context.
Think that on on the Shut Up and Show More Football pod after the Fulham defeat.
And Garner in the promotion seasonYeah, could've beeen an old piece.
Another spin is that I read another quote a while back, can't remember where from, that Cooper wanted to get Sangare playing in a similar fashion to his Toulouse role, where he'd get the ball in tight spots and shift it forward early with good long range passing, which makes sense given the Shelvey signing.
Mangala is, though recent games have shown us he's also capable of breaking lines, which is another factor in wonderibg when/if the roles will be reversed. It depends how the club/Cooper actually views Sangare though doesn't it?
I think it should be quite clear now if it wasn't for others already that Cooper prefers playmaker behind a ball winner (as aforementioned, Garner deeper than Yates) rather than vice versa, so the only way Sangare is getting that #6 role soon is if Forest want Sangare as the play-maker.
I'm not entirely sure we do... and it's even harder to gauge that with Mangala playing the role extremely well.
I hate to repeat yet again but I have watched Orel Mangala turn in some pretty decent performances in the #8 role, for my local side for three seasons.Mangala is, though recent games have shown us he's also capable of breaking lines, which is another factor in wonderibg when/if the roles will be reversed.
I say reversed - Sangare has to win his spot back first...
I think he is very effective at moving the ball forward. very effective in the defensive midfeild role,He’s going to divide opinion for a while, but I really like him, think he’s got great ability to break play and just find an incisive ball forward. Even if it’s a simple ball.
I agree, he will be Nuno's Neves. He’s going to divide opinion for a while, but I really like him, think he’s got great ability to break play and just find an incisive ball forward. Even if it’s a simple ball.
Put MGW away for the first goal with great play.I agree, he will be Nuno's Neves.
By the end of the season he will be our best midfielder.
