I absolutely concur Chris. As well as being a great player, Bomber is the most 'normal', un-starry, unaffected ex-sportsman you could ever meet in person. He still remains firmly amongst my top-5 favourite Forest players (Jeff Whitefoot, Joe Baker, IS-M and Robbo being the others).

The Nottingham Forest one was graffiti in the old Old Market Square bogs a day or so after the event iirc

Had “Welcome to Beirut“ sprayed on the wall where I lived when I was a boy,

It was that rough for safety the dogs walked about in pairs,

But you know what I loved the place.

Did the arms on the chairs have tattoos? 😁
Aye that’s the one 🤣🤣……

Going in the pub you’d be asked “got any weapons on ya?” If you answered “no“ they’d ask what do you want ?🤣…..

I loved it, so many funny things happened around the square 😍, could write a book on my time growing up in Roker, following Forest and spending time with the lads.

You should do.

You know it can be done

Sent from another dimension. Pay close attention.

Speaking of Forest related graffiti, I always remember one from the (long-since demolished) public bogs in Beeston bus station.
Someone had scrawled ‘Jesus Saves!’ in pretty large letters on one of the walls. Assuming it was added later due to different pen and writing, someone else added, in red, ‘But Birtles scores on the rebound’ underneath.

Footnote: For me to remember this, it must have been there at latest in the early to mid 90s…and seeing as Birtles last played for Forest in 87, shows how infrequently public toilets got a lick of paint.

It was that rough where I lived we often had to take a detour through the supermarket to get home. After all it was a Safeway*

* joke barely works and doesn't work at all since they all became Morrisons
