And it'll be a hundred times worse if we slip down into League One again

I don’t buy that

Really don’t see any difference to where we are now. Expect imo be better off as we can get rid of most footballers at our club and start again

I've got real troubles I'm afraid. I can't be cured of the Forest affliction. I've been watching them for over 40 years and it hurts just as much when we lose as ever it did. Really hurting tonight but I'll be back for more pain next week.

Its painful watching and hearing my son get disillusioned by the club too. Young and once enthusiastic now dragged down to a level I was at back in the past under Megson and co. I suppose I care less now than I did but he shouldn't be so pessimistic so soon in his Forest life.

Just see it as character-building for your lad. Tell him that he'll eventually benefit from it.

I genuinely envy this. And really hope you never lose that.

I always remember wondering why we didn't go to Forest more when I was younger, we went a bit but probably only 3 or 4 times every couple of months, as a result I was never massively into football until I got a bit older and I remember when I was around 14 or so my Dad said to me something like "I probably should've done more when you were little and taken you to Forest more often". He used to go home and away when he was a teenager/ young man in the late 70s and 80s. I completely understand now why he used to take me fishing on a Saturday rather than to Forest, I think he must've completely given up on it around the time I was born and Clough was on his way out.

Welcome to the brotherhood mate, I felt like this a couple of years ago, f**ked it all off and now after a bit of time I can "enjoy" it without particularly giving a shit either way. The only time I care now about football in general is for 90 minutes. Outside of that it's curry, boobs and beer.
You've got the same problem as the players then..

I'm sorry I dont post very much but like Congo Red Ive loved this team for nearly 50 years and I also feel what can only be described as anaesthetised by not only the team but the whole set up
over the last few years. It's not the losing (we can all deal with that) but the lack of an identity we seem to have succumbed to. My only hope is that at some point we somehow end up with
the nucleus of a young team who might lose, get relegated even, but will grow and improve together. Players that will learn to trust each other rather than a shower of strangers passing
through on the bi-annual City ground transfer lottery. A group of Players that will feel they have a bond with our club and our club with them. I promise its not senility talking. Good players join us
and don't perform, then go somewhere else and do. Why? Its not just bad luck given the sheer amount of times that this happens but does anyone upstairs ask why? Or is it simply better to buy
a new overpriced player and hope they make a difference? We need a proper long term vision for this club we all love and like Congo Red, I feel the care draining from me a little more every season...
Sorry for the ramble but it is just how I feel.

I said it in the match day thread

MOST players come here for a fat cheque and an easy ride as they are joining 2 times European champions

And we as a club play our part by signing players who either have been good but are either injured or past it or players that a younger and have good reputations but have never cut it anywhere

We feed into them and they feed into us

It’s a dire dire situation

Living with me is character building enough. I'll tell him to stop watching that dross and bang his head against the wall instead.

Yep and we have spoken about this before. I have a hard job, twin girls I’m trying to home school all other current issues that come with living in this modern world

I’m damned if I’m going to let NFFCs result ruin my weekend or my Tuesday/Wednesday evenings anymore

I think that's the worst thing. We all know how the owners run the club, so even if we survive this season I am not particularly confident next season is going to be much better.

At best we are just going to tread water in the Championship with an ever revolving door of players and managers coming and going. At worst, potential lower league oblivion for many years to come.

It's not just the fact that we are shit that bothers me, it's the fact that the way we are run offers no real hope of things getting better.

I'll never walk away from this club, but it does feel like a lost cause at the moment.

I'm just hoping Hughton's calm, collected methods spill over onto the pitch eventually. It really all boils down to the backing he gets from up top.

The club has needed a proper core building since Fazza's time, and EM, Vrentroz & Modesto have been shockingly bad at creating that so far.

I think it started really dying for me when Psycho was sacked. But like a relationship that used to be great, I kind of carried on regardless, in the hope that one day I’d feel the same as I used to.
That was exactly the time I f**ked it off mate. Didn't bother much, carried on going to watch football live with a mate to get my fix. Now though I watch it completely objectively, I have my opinions, suggestions etc, but it just doesn't bother me as much anymore, continuous shit strategy from the club has my expectations at zero. There is no long term planning or identity, it's just "f*** it stick with that". When football cares about the fans, I'll care about football. Can't see it happening any time soon.

Come out to Germany mate and be on the right side of 5-1 watching Frankfurt.

without a doubt in my mind the single biggest step forward this club could realistically take, is to announce a significant modification to Modesto & Vretroz's roles, and Stuart Pearce in a DOF type role overseeing everything.

EM hasn't the bollocks for it though. He's driven by greed, and won't trust anyone else outside his money men.

I've been on this train for 64-years mate, and like you I've no desire to get off it yet, despite the considerably more downs than ups over all of those decades.

It'll be very different to last time we were in League One, with the far stricter FFP rules and the salary cap that has recently been introduced. We'd have to sell any half decent players we have (including any talented youngsters) and would basically be restricted to signing lower league journeymen (if we aren't hit with a points deduction and transfer embargo for breaching FFP), so it'll be like now but with even shitter players and a league lower.

If we went down we'd be in serious danger of falling straight through to League Two, IMO.

Yea I understand what your saying.

If you said to stay as we are and continue picking this mess apart or go down, regroup. Have a new bunch of players and gaffer and have a much better attaching style abs better recruitment strategy ie Brentford style I know which one I’d go for

Obviously that’s asking a bloody lot

A wise man once said “You don’t actually live any longer if you stop drinking, it just feels a lot longer.”

I mean, I say wise man, it may have been a comedian. I’m not sure. I’m getting drunk.

I agree but unfortunately we're never going to get that from the current ownership. Every season it will be a scattergun approach to player recruitment with the manager taking the blame when it all goes wrong. It has been the case for the (almost) 4 years they have been in charge and I doubt its going to change.

Although I'd say they are better than Fawaz in terms of not making as many PR blunders and paying the bills on time, I feel as apathetic towards Forest now as I did in Fawaz's last season.

The thing with being a Forest fan is a large part of the relationship is being there and involved. The walk to the stadium, seeing faces you’ve known for over 40 years and less, the pubs, the atmosphere, the songs, the familiar smells like the hotdog vans...
Even if you don’t attend away games it’s still good to hear our fans getting behind the lads on the tv or radio as well.

Take all that away and it doesn’t leave you with much, especially during a season like this.
I’m loyal and hate saying this but the current team is almost unlovable excluding a few players and the football is awful. It wasn’t much better last season but the results made it more bearable.

It’s definitely a low point for me too but i think that is more modern football than just Forest. I hate how the Cups mean nothing, especially to clubs like ours that won’t be winning anything else anytime soon, I don’t like how the atmosphere is going stale in stadiums and I don’t like to see players that don’t care.

Got no answers for anyone on this I’m afraid, other than it will get better when crowds are allowed back.
