HENRI has left the building

I would walk to Birmingham and give him a piggy back here if he would sign for us again. Not going to happen though.

Did Lansbury ever get 10 assists? He may have got near 10 goals one season because he scored a few penalties. He also never, ever "ran the midfield". He could pop up with a goal or good pass every now and then, that was about it. Ball winning non existent, great at picking up petulant yellow cards though.

I'd take the model pro like a Chris Cohen who contributes far more greatly to the team effort at both ends of the pitch every single game myself.

Cohen made 302 appearances scored 17 goals and 32 assists

Lansbury 151 appearances scored 33 goals and 19 assists - 9 of his goals were penalties. .

(For comparison McGugan : 210 appearances scored 42 and 24 assists - 8 of which penalties.)

So, Lansbury bigger contribution at the top end of the pitch. Cohen in defence.

Genuine question - do you think it'd be fine for someone you work with to be off sick but then go off on a jolly to the driving range and be tagged as such on Twitter?

I know people who have been sacked for supposedly being off sick but then tagged out somewhere on social media.

Sorry but I don't see the two as mutually exclusive. There are plenty of decent midfielders like Lansbury but who aren't a nob and don't go on strike when they get a strop on and decide they've had enough.

To answer your first question I work in an office so my view is you literally have to be unable to move or think not to come in. When playing football it’s physical so it’s a different kettle of fish. For example he could be recovering from a hamstring strain and be able to walk. If you can walk you can easily go on the driving range.

Also I know it is mutually exclusive that you have be a nobhead to be a good player. My point is sometimes the good player available to you is a nobhead. What do you do say no because he’s a cock? Lansburys lack of humility is clear to see and it’s a horrible trait in a human but that will never change the fact he is bloody good championship footballer.

I totally with the other point about the driving range thing. There was no self awareness or humility but it will never change the fact he is good at football. In an ideal world Nigel Clough would manage us and we’d play attacking football in a 442 formation scoring loads and all our players were nice humans and spoke to refs respectively. However the ideal world dosen’t exist, sometimes you have to accept shit.

I seem to remember our beloved captain claiming he was injured at that time and didn't play for several games including a 2-0 loss in the cup to Wigan, whilst the very same day was on the driving range:

He effectively went on strike until we sold him.

So regardless of his talents, Henri can do one.

That’s not him, that’s a lady

Lansbury produces when Lansbury feels like it.

We don't need a player like that in the trenches. Its a f*** off from me.

A few years ago, if we had the Henri that we did when he joined, then yes... he would be as hungry as he ever was, still looking for that big glamour payday.

Now, whats his motivation? Unless he loves football or loves the club, there isnt much upside for him to play for less money here than anywhere else.

For that reason, id stay away, id rather shop for up and coming English talent OR, crazy as it sounds, use Jake Taylor as that spark in the middle. He has played mens football and was a success at Port Vale, will be hungry to progress and has a bond with the club that is yet to be broken.

The more wee keep that production line coming through, hopefully one day it will stick and they will succeed with us, not away from us.

Sorry but just because you are off sick or injured doesnt mean you cant go and do other things while off. I had several weeks off work a few years ago after a operation on doctors orders. But carried on doing alot of things I would of done normally anyway while off as it didnt affect me in that way.

I agree with this, BUT I'm not sure a trip down the driving range if you have a muscular injury is the best idea. There aren't many muscles you don't use when hitting a golf ball.

More on topic though, no I wouldn't take him back as I honestly don't think he is better than what we have. On his day he could be a difference maker at this level, but we haven't seen him kick a ball for pretty much 2 years and those 'days' were always few and far between.

I cannot say I speak for everyone but I for one would not welcome back a player who can be excellent when he really wants to be, good if he feels like it and buggers off to the driving range when he doesn't feel either of those.

Henri Lansbury can do one.

.....he is bloody good championship footballer.

If he is that good how come we got progressively worse every season he was with us and then never got a look in when he went to count his cash at what was actually a good Championship squad with decent players?

Do what? We got worse with Assombolonga in the side and Cohen. That’s not a compelling argument. Plus when he moved he initially played then once Villa got some good players he was a squad player.

You speak for me there. I'm inclined to believe that certain posters have an opinion as it keeps up with the constant parody account that they have become synonymous with.

Golf's on the lockdown banned list, guess this has caused him to get off his arse and find something else to do until they reopen.

Fans are over the moon he's going.

"More concerned about his hair than playing"

"Done nothing other than sit and happily collect a wage"

"Good riddance, absolute joke of a footballer that wants to do everything other than play football"

Could have copied and pasted that off here.
