With the players we are signing if the worst does happen we have a young and capable side with the ability to bounce straight back without buying many players at all.

This will be the most impactful transfer window on the club for decades

Honestly, every time I see this thread I immediately think of Toffo's. Which is no bad thing.
Sat in the cinema watching a double bill of "La Vallee" and "Perfromance" on a first date with a lovely young lady (later to become a lovely young doctor!!), she offered me a Toffo. Chewing on it, snuggled up, my reliable right hand caressing her left mid inner thigh, I felt a pull on a molar, and a crunchiness of the Toffo, followed almost immediately by excruciating pain. My faithful right hand stuck to its task, while my left clutched at my lower jaw. Yes, the Toffo had pulled a recent filling from my tooth. It made for a memorable first date. And then 50 years later it was an amazing coincidence that another Toffo caused me similar gut-wrenching agony when he tripped and dived in the Forest penalty box at Wembley.
If Toffo -lo does join us, then every time he takes the field, I am likely to feel a reminder of the pains of the past, and a stirring in the nether regions as I recall from long ago the softness of that inner thigh.

If we're linking new players to retro sweets then can we get someone called Tony Spangles or Keith Jubbly?

Forest linked with Colombian winger, Eduardo Chewits.

Thing is would he want to come and be a back up?
It wouldn't be framed to him as a back-up role, it would be fighting it out for the LWB position with Richards. Any player joining a prem club should expect to have to battle to earn the shirt. Cooper has also stuck with his next man up mantra, so players will get opportunites.

There may also be times where Richards could be used further upfield, freeing up that LWB spot for Toffolo.

Given what is happening at Huddersfield, I doubt Toffolo will want to stay there if we offer him a way out either way.

Would he definitely be a back up?
  1. Richards hasn't been formally announced yet.
  2. Neither player has played in the Premier League, although they have good Championship records
  3. Richards has only played a dozen games with Bayern
I think there's enough doubt that you could sell it to him as a chance of being starter.

I guess there could be times when one could come on as sub for the other.

It seems like Toffolo might be better at picking players out, but Richards better at making inroads with dribbling. On the defensive side of things Richards might be quicker, but could Toffolo be a bit more solid/reliable?

Richards is going to cost more (but both fees could be a bit under real value potentially couldn't they), and if he was truly clearly the best option then I guess he should play most of the time, but I'm thinking there could be situations where Toffolo might offer what was required on the left anyway, in terms of delivering assists from wide positions for example. It's possible Richards could be told to use his energy up because Toffolo would be able to replace him when he got tired raiding down the wing both ways too maybe (or vice versa Richards could be introduced when the game is open and opposition players tired)?

With 5 subs, you could theoretically at least play them both for 45 minutes and not miss out.

Wb was such a vital role for us that they could knacker themselves out first half and then switch it after 45-60 to put fresh legs on again to "go again".

Omar Richards can also play further forward as a winger, so if Forest wanted to deploy a back-four, this would also work with Toffolo behind the Bayern player?

No doubt it gives us options but with Richards being £7-8m I can’t see him being second choice either?

I don't think we can judge the signings on the fees. You overpay in the British market and with clever recruitment you can underpay in foreign markets. Wasn't Ronaldo £8M or something for Man U?? And Bissouma has just gone for £25M! He's worth way more.
