The way journos are writing about being on “his side”, it just doesn’t feel like it’s Forest’s offered contract terms holding it up.

I wonder if Hudds expect him to give up his loyalty bonus or something of that sort and he is not willing to?

It does seem strange. His opportunity to play PL football is surely dwindling- be mad to turn it down over money. If he does well for us, the money will take care of itself.

I wondered whether it had anything to do with Lincoln. They have a sell on clause with Toffolo and there's a good chance this deal is structured so they get nowt or next to nowt from HTFC. It might explain why they seem to only come as a pair...

Sounds similar to the Cohen/Davies scenario

And Toffolo is not happy Lincoln are missing out?

Or the lower “fee” for him has affected his take somehow? I can’t think how it would as we could offer him any signing-on fee regardless of fee….

I think the Lincoln sell-on is defo what is making it a double deal from Hudds side though. More money allocated to O’Brien which is all profit for FFP purposes, and no sell-on due to the Imps.

I do love an on-off-on saga.

Impeccable timing this musing, minutes before the Athletic confirmed it was his wage demands

I'm not terribly bothered if we get Toffolo, to be honest. O'Brien is the player we really need. Harry is almost 27 and only became a Champo regular the past few seasons.

This whole thing feels like Tofollo's agent tried to pull a fast one, the club called his bluff and then everyone was attacking him from all sides - including the player. I don't think there would have been such a quick u-turn from a player, screams like his agent was pushing things too far and the deal almost collapsed.

If he's pissing about with wage demands at 11th hour, he won't gain friends. Bomb squad before he kicks a ball lol, as long as club get OBrien?

If the club end up signing Moreno, it could be a possibility. I reckon the club would have binned off Toffolo had the O'Brien deal not depended on it.

Which in itself is pretty shitty.
I mean everyone (including Hudderfield presumably) know that clubs like Lincoln are on a bloody shoe string. Denying them a few hundred grand on a deal of this size is pretty shitty.

Lets hope Lincoln remember that next time those Yorkshire wazzocks come calling about a decent prospect...
