Preston away, on a Tuesday night, love it! 👊

Seriously though, we can’t go backwards now. The days of being a perennial Championship club and finding some contentment in that have gone.
We are here now and it took a long time to get here. We have to survive or look at bouncing back if we do get relegated, I’m not optimistic on either but that has to be the target.

Its not my bag this league, never followed it before we were promoted and haven’t enjoyed the last two seasons at all if I’m honest. But it’s progress for the club that I have supported over 40 years and Forest belong in the top flight.

Funny though, the Leeds fan who lives a few doors down on my street doesn’t want to get promoted, he prefers the Championship.

I am friendly with a baggies fan who is the same, he does not want to get promoted at any cost

Ultimately I want us to stay in this league as I want us to win every game we play. But, this season has been a mentally draining and at times borderline unbearable. Where to start:

1) The sad end to the Cooper reign (probably had run it’s course) and all the feel good factor that went with his presence
2) Throwing away point after point from winning positions largely via set pieces
3) All of the off the field drama and the stress over points deductions, not to mention the appeals
and counter arguments
4) The fallout from the Season Ticket prices
5) The whole Everton tweet and all the debris from it.

All left a sour taste and us as fans bear the cost. No longer has football been an enjoyable release from everyday life. The on the field stuff I can cope with, but everything else off it has sapped my enjoyment and enthusiasm.

Completely agree. We've had many a bad season over the years, many off the field issues, plenty of bad luck - but this year has all of it. It's been a bit soul destroying. My worry is that this is the Premier League. Once the initial shine wears off, it's just miserable.

Stay up, or go down, we will continue to be a farce until we become a professional and competently run club off the pitch.

Ultimately, that's all I really want to see. The club being run well, and that translating to performances on the pitch and a positive feeling around the club. The way we have pissed away what should have been the biggest opportunity to build some lasting positivity both internally but also externally across the footballing community is utterly unbelievable.

One thing I will not feel again is jealousy of other clubs who win promotion to the PL. More likely I'll feel sorry for them, unless it's Derby, and then we can look forward to them being battered every week.
I would probably laugh myself inside out if they broke their own record.

The sad way some of our fans not only accepted Cooper's dismissal with ease, but also championed it really left a foul taste too.

I hope that when we go down they are the ones to jump ship. Most will be glory fannies anyway, like Wolverine.

Exactly. This is what frustrates me about the calls for Nuno to be sacked etc. Eg on Sunday, if we'd been given that first penalty and went 1-0 up it would've been a very different game.

Under Nuno we have been a mid-table team but referees and our PSR incompetence have conspired to lose him/us 13 points. That's half of our current points total. And that's largely without Taiwo.

It will be a travesty if this squad is relegated, they could build into a very good team.

As for the OPs question of what success looks like in the Championship - enjoying games again, seeing a few wins etc. Just for devil's advocate, what does success in the PL look like? Because as the rules stand we're never breaking into the regular Europe-qualifying positions, or having much of a chance of winning anything.

Would you have another season in the championship for another day like that in Wembley?
Agree with this.

Was hoping this season we'd be doing a Palace/Bournemouth and as you say, without all the shite, we probably would be.

Keepers/set pieces cost us a few points too. Sels would have been worth a few more points on his own.

Hopefully we stay up and keep the majority of this squad. Get us a Tarkowski/Anderson/Killman type defender or two who'll win everything in the air and put Murillo to CDM if he stays.

I can’t imagine if Cooper was still here we would now have a thread where fans are discussing whether we would rather be in the championship or premier league - it’s madness really.

I swear the ones that are not fussed about getting relegated are largely the same as the ones championing Coopers exit….

People like me aren't fussed because it's no fun.

That said, the fans that turn out regularly now have more of a right to an opinion on the issue than an old man like me whose home and away days, bar the odd one, are long done.

Yeah, Cooper's presence alone lifted people because of what he had already achieved with us, and flushing all that away for absolutely no progress at all was incredibly short-sighted.

I'd fancied us to fly straight back up under Cooper....Nuno?.....more likely Mendes will load the squad full of Carvalho's lol.

But that's what tossers like Wolverine would rather have....people like Mendes using our club as a training facility for his players, rather than standing by genuinely decent people like Cooper who actually care about the community around us to the point they make low-profile visits to schools, and invite families of murder victims to the CG.

We've already been relegated in a way, because we've lost a core part of what made us a positive club again. The table is almost irrelevant.

The only time I’d be interested in going down is if Claudia Schiffer knocked on my apartment door clutching a crate of Bier and wearing nothing but a Forest shirt.

Otherwise, forget it.

It’s a sad situation we find ourselves in. While I feel we’ve been a really poor side this season, plus all the off-field distractions and bad decisions, our results have been closer this season than last.

We’ve lost loads of games by one goal, whereas last season we got smashed a few times. We feel very much like a lower-mid table team who have a bad season and go down, rather than a newly promoted side getting hammered.

Things just haven’t clicked though, whether that’s the new players, new manager, injuries - the culture which contributed to a few wins last season is gone. We should have another 6-8 points regardless of refereeing decisions, and that’s our fault.

On paper, we’re the kind of squad which could bounce straight back… but feels like it’s too turbulent behind the scenes for that to happen, and arguably too many potential problems next season within the squad. We’ll have loads of players who feel they’re better than the Champ, and it’ll be a shit show, lots of the squad will go through the motions until we’re left with a squad of Champ cloggers again after a few years.
